Hello.  My name is Doctor Mohinder Suresh.  It seems we've a case of strep throat.  This is nothing to be alarmed at.  [Even though they don't seem to have the right medicines.]  I encourage everyone to wash their hands regularly and refrain from touching their faces.  Strep is highly contagious ( Read more... )

Aren't you afraid I'm going to be mean to you again?

I'm not afraid you'll be mean. I expect you to be. That doesn't mean we can't use your assistance.

[And...you can't look like that. With that haircut. It's too much like Peter. And he doesn't appreciate it.]

Oh, good.

[Because frankly he's not very good with social graces at the moment. Even worse than usual, in fact.]

What do you want, then?

If Agent Coulson's group is able to find the items on the list I have, we may need help concocting antibiotics and viral medications. Doctor House says we're very low on the proper medicines needed to control basic illnesses.

I'll do what I can. I know Martha went with us once so that she could pick up a lot of things that I might not be able to recognize. We've got several new people lately, so we can hit the hospital again and we'll be able to carry a lot. Get me the list.

[He sends over the same photo of the list he'd sent to Sherlock.]

I thought Doctor Watson was on the Recovery Team. He had been my last time around. Doctor Jones should be quite capable too. I remember the Dean said that there was a hospital close. Perhaps that's a good place to start if the pharmacies are ransacked.

[Phil shrugs.] That's between the two of them. Martha wanted to come and pick things out herself. I don't say no to anyone unless they're a danger to the others or themselves. She asked if we could hit the hospital, so we did. We can hit it again, though. We have more than enough people to split into two groups if we need to.

Is there anything else I can help with?

Oh darn I wish I knew you guys hit the hospital before. I had plans :( splice_of_life August 17 2012, 18:05:31 UTC
No that's it. Thank you.

Mohinder? [Elle's voice is faintly croaky. She's not worried, though. That pancake party had been crazy.]

'm I gonna be small forever? [Right, because she's so big when she's an adult.]

I don't think so, sweetheart. Does your throat hurt you?

rebelle_elle August 17 2012, 18:32:58 UTC
A little. But it's okay. [And then her eyes brighten.] I had a party yesterday and people came! And we ate pancakes, and I tried to eat more than anybody but my stomach wasn't big enough.

[The tragedy, Mohinder.]

Mohinder? What do I do if my stomach blows up from eating too much?

It won't. It would have already.

[He grins.]

Elle, I'm going to come over with a...friend...and take a look at your throat, all right?

Is a quaratine advisable?

Oh it should be all right. It's not a very dangerous illness. It's just very uncomfortable.

I see. [He considers this; he's used to Spacers who are long lived but with no immune system, to whom a cold would be fatal. This is clearly not the case here.] I will take care not to spread it, then.

Thank you. It's really quite easy. People understand the use of washing one's hands, but the practice does more than many realize in the prevention of illness.

Uh-oh. Do we have any amoxicillin? Strep is awful.

We are a little low on standard antibiotics for the moment which is why we need everyone to stay away from other people if they feel sick and let one of the medical staff: Doctor Watson, Doctor Jones, Doctor Sullivan, or Doctor House, know immediately.

Huh. What about you? Do you count as one of the medical staff?

Me? Well, I suppose. I'm a geneticist, not a medical doctor exactly.
