Mohinder! It was so cool! I was flying! Did you see it?

[Peter doesn't even wait for a response, because now he's flapping his arms like they are wings. But he just can't seem to do it again.]

It's broken. Am I gonna be stuck up here forever? Are you mad?

[His huge, scared eyes fill with tears.]

I'm not mad. You're not stuck.

[He knows that roof.]

So just stay put. I'll get a ladder.

Okay. But I'm really scared.

[Peter starts to cry anyway, but then he remembers that Nathan told him when he was in trouble to find an adult he trusts. And that's what he did! Mohinder's going to be here in no time!]

If you get me down I promise I'll never fly again. [miserable pouty face, hugging his knees]

You remember how you got up there? All that flying? Can you do that again... Don't go anywhere... stay on the roof... but try to fly...

{That's really probably not good advice. But what teh hell is she supposed to do. She doesn't know where there's a ladder.]

[Peter flaps his arms like a bird trying to take off, but nothing happens this time.]

It doesn't work anymore!

OK... [Bugger... that was her plan.]

Sit down... right where you are. Stay there and we'll get a ladder for you. Does anyone else know where you are?

[Peter sits right down where he is, pouting a little.]

No... It's high up. I'm higher than all the trees! I'm scared!

Kid, are you okay? Which roof are you on?

[Peter bursts into tears. The guy he's talking to kind of reminds him of his big brother. If Nathan were here he'd get him down right away!]

I don't know... a really high up one? [sniffle]

[Jason's at the window in his room, trying to see if he can see him.]

Hey, ssh. You don't have to cry. I'm going to get you down, okay? My name's Jason. What's yours?

[He figures this Jason is probably a lot like Nathan. He kind of sounds like him too. Nathan would tell him all the same things. So he'll do his best not to cry. He wipes his face on his sleeve and just sniffles a little.]

Are you gonna tell my mom? I don't wanna get in trouble.

Well, you could jump. 'Course, I wouldn't guarantee that that'd get you down safely. Or in one piece. Or not as a splatter.

If there are stairs I suppose you could try those.

[Peter narrows his eyes at the man who's talking to him. Something tells him not to trust him. Big people don't tell you to jump off buildings!]

I fell out of a tree once and broke my wrist. This is way higher! I don't want to be a splatter!

That's definitely a good attitude to have. Being a splatter is overrated.

[Peter shakes his head in confusion; he doesn't know what 'overrated' means. Probably 'really really bad', if it has something to do with being a splatter. Looking around, he notices the sun is going down and that means it's gonna be night time soon!]
