It will. It really really will. It'll never stop being sad and unfortunate but it WILL get easier. Just give it time.

I know what you're feeling, having lost my Brownie last fall.
It does get better, but it takes time. Try to think about the good things and the fact Neko is safe and in no pain where he is now.
