An interesting week, thus far
On Monday, while bike-riding, I had a bug fly into my eye...unfortunately, I was going up an extended hill and didn't want to break my stride, so I ended up with a dead bug stuck to my contact lens for 5 minutes - pretty gross, and sticky.
On Tuesday, my favourite sweatshirt re-appeared out back of my workplace, after missing for 10 months. Later on, Bon Jovi's "Blaze of Glory" of all things gave me the most intense, Proustian deju vu...am still trying to figure out why.
On Wednesday, I found out that the co-owner and sous chef (they are brothers) of my restaurant's nephews have been given a raise after three months. Problem is, I am almost at 11 months, and still awaiting a raise - so am in the absurd and probably illegal position of making less than people that work at a third my pace and have about a quarter of the food knowledge that I do.
Economic justice? The best part is my sous chef is a hardcore Occupy Vancouver activist, constantly agitating - yet nepotism at his workplace is just fine, apparently. Shit's ridiculous.
Am so broke that I haven't been able to pay rent for four months - and literally have no money to do anything. Just constantly borrowing.
