In a fit of overachievement, I made...

four Festivids this year. (All are downloadable as FLV at Viddler as well as streaming. I'll edit this post when I have non-FLV versions available for download.)

One was my assignment:

This isn't the fandom we matched on (that was 21 Jump Street) and I'd never seen Lola Rennt before I ditched my couple of lame attempts at vidding 21 Jump Street. Had to watch it twice through on Youtube, of all places, because the subtitles don't work on the copy I have, all the while brainstorming for songs that would capture the sort of relentless forward movement of the movie and its repetition. I kept coming back to Papillon for two reasons: one, it is one of my favorite songs to run to, and two, the actual video for the song? constant running. I'm really happy how this one came together as kind of a homage to both sources.

One pinch hit*:

*(A pinch hit of a pinch hit, actually!)

I'd never seen RED before, either**. Fell instantly in love with Victoria and Ivan. Theirloveissounsanctioned♥! And, well, this (Canadian!) song has the highest play count of any that I have on iTunes, so it is never far from my brain. And RED's essentially Canadian source. And she is fearless.

**I couldn't, given the very short time this assignment was mine, brainstorm just the right Canadian song to vid Better Than Chocolate to. Maybe next year.

And two very different treats:

Yes,
malnpudl, you guessed this one correctly! Because, omgyes, another of my absolute favorite songs ever. After doing Papillon, I needed a little soothing. *g* There are only two versions of this song available, and I just had to use the live version with the Ulster Orchestra because of the luscious strings. Moonlight and waves and all the love! I couldn't resist.

I am really frustrated by the glitch at about 2:17 and will probably remaster this someday because of that. I've lost all the clips thanks to a vidding program crash, so it'll be a while. *sigh*

*koff* Okay, yeah, this one's really just about the naked CKR and the two kisses. It's nearly as much of an id thing as when I just slowed down the knife-licking bit of HCL and slapped it on a punk song.
thingswithwings' Dear Festividder letter said, "no Last Night vid can be complete without the Don McKellar/Callum Keith Rennie kiss and the Don McKellar/Sandra Oh kiss." Neither of those kisses is terribly short. *g* Also had to throw in Craig flipping off Patrick because that's one of my favorite bits, which isn't short either.

When I was typing up the credits, it felt like the song titles were longer than the actual vid bits. Was awesome, though, to vid even more stuff to Matt Good songs. Yay for Canadian source!

Must admit, I'm kind of surprised that there was only one guessed. I thought the ones to Matt Good songs were obvious, too.
