I don't envy my mother tomorrow. She's got to deal with taking my father to a snowy/muddy graveside service at what's likely to be a high-profile funeral. For those of you locals enduring the Hecker saga, the recently deceased gentleman was my father's third(?) cousin (and according to the My Bat Mitzvah book my mom recently dredged out of storage, he gave me $18 back in the day).
I picked up Jeffrey Steingarten's The Man Who Ate Everything yesterday and I'm mostly finished already. I hear the whole thing in his voice, which makes it just that much more fun of a read.
