Patent Pending....

I have a cold.

My head is stuffy and my nose is runny.

Which begs the question... why hasn't anyone come up with a nose tampon?

Ok... I know it sounds gross, because the word tampon immediately sends our minds to a region of the body which is much further south. However the word TAMPON originated from the French back in the mid 19th century. It is a nasalized (not sure what THAT means) of 'tapon' meaning 'plug, stopper'. And ultimately of Germanic origin. Information provided for those of you who care, and compliments of the dictionary widget on my Mac :)

Anyway, as I continue to root through my pockets for a fresh kleenex... I am once again reminded that a nasal tampon would be handy. When no one is around, I confess, I stick a kleenex in my nose to stop the drip. I can't breath through my nose right now anyway, and my nose is getting raw from all the blowing. There MUST be something MORE absorbent, and shaped better for this particular purpose?!

But alas, I have Christmas cards to make... so I will stuff my nose and get back to work :)

If you decide to invent such a thing... I demand a finders fee... or at least a coffee :)
