Back in Boston

Well, I'm officially done with College. I will write more about that at a later time.

Now, that I'm back in Boston I am reminded of all the reasons I love the city and urban living in general. Not that I didn't love the clean air and natural beauty of Western Massachusetts, but the city is so much more engaging to the senses. My body seems to have broken down a lot from the last two weeks. Exhaustion, exertion, and a lack of sleep have given me a nice summer cold. I went outside anyways and despite my knee feeling stiff and pained I went for a walk.

The day was beautiful, and smiles were everywhere. Hampshire had made me forget the incredible diversity of people in the world and what a delightful idle curiosity watching other people can provide. The richness and incredible variety of smells. Sure, there are plenty of rather unpleasant odors but even more delicious and curious smells to be found within footsteps of each other.

Walking down Concord Square in the South End and chuckled to myself as I heard the mingling of several different musicals tumbling down from open windows of the Victorian Townhouses. Not ten yards further, I heard the dull muddled bass of R&B and the sounds of a daytime television from the first floor apartment I walked past. Last night I slept better than I had in weeks coddled by the bustle of the city: traffic, police sirens, and others. I awoke happy to the sounds of bottle-ladies rummaging in the alley.

How much I missed the sensations of the city. I love this place and each time it gets harder to leave.

EDIT: Today I got a call back from Tech Superpowers about my iMac. Andy the nice fellow there informed me it would cost $500 plus an hour of labor to fix my G5 iMac, and politely offered his opinion that it wasn't worth fixing. Sure enough, my initial diagnosis was correct: the logic board is blown and needs replacement. I just don't know what to do its worth next to nothing for parts, and to buy a laptop to Korea I had expected to sell my then working computer to my parents. Even looking online, the board goes for even more than $500. This does complicate things a lot.
