Happy Repeal Day!

Dec 05, 2006 15:13

On this day in History, the United States the United States repealed the 18th Amendment and returned the Constitutional right to consume alcohol to all Americans*.

Why should you care? Well, let's be honest Repeal Day is the only holiday who's history has to actually do with alcohol, and thus invites its enjoyment. Sure we have our appropriated holidays which are famous for their rampant consumption. Sure Saint Patrick's day, Cinco de Mayo, and others are fun. But they aren't alcohol's holiday. That day, at least for us Americans is December 5th. How often does history say you should enjoy a good pint, anyways?

To celebrate a few of my friends and I are going to the Moan and Dove to responsibly celebrate Repeal day! There I will enjoy a beer or two, possibly a nice white or Belgian. I encourage everyone who feels inclined to make this little-known day a little bit more special and celebrate your right to consume!

But remember temperance is your friend.

*People of age and who drink responsibility.
