amsterdam!!
well that was fantastically fun. my lady and i were only there for two days, but it was pretty great.
glad we decided to tag on an extra day.
oh also: NEVER use hostels club to EVER book a room. sweet fucking christ. i used them to book that exact hotel... only to get there to find out it's been closed for three months. so yeah. fuck that place.
but the VVV (tourism office) was immensely helpful. they turned us on to the i amsterdam card. we got a 24 hour for 33 euro and hit up the rijkesmuseum, van gogh museum, a free canal boat tour, free public transport for that 24 hours, and free admission to the holland casino. and they pulled up a list of empty rooms across amsterdam after we found that ours was fucking closed. yeah, i'm still a little bitter about that.
wait. they charge entry to the casino?
yeah. fucking weird.
but we got a place on amstel. right on a canal. walking distance to enough stuff. and trammable to others.
of course, i woke up this morning feeling like shit. like, cold and fever sick. adn i'm damn glad it waited until i was done to kick in.
may have been that stroll around the red light in the pouring rain that did it...
