Well well, looks like I'm making a habit of doing a journal at least once a month now. Wonder how long that'll keep up..
Well, I'm back now from being kidnapped by Mother and smuggled out of the country (or at least out of town) and made to visit the brothers all weekend, on their camping trip. I guess it wasn't a complete disaster (like two years ago) and they all refrained from drinking/smoking weed while we were there so they didn't become idiots again. And I got some swimming time in the cold cold lake, and got to row around in a little boat. It was kinda fun, once I figured out how to stop going in circles. I'm afraid I quite messed up my healthy diet with lots of junk food, potato chips, marshmallows and the like. But marshmallows roasted over a fire are so hard to resist, and holy crap, the marshmallows they bought were huge, as big as tennis balls.
And even though things were a little awkward around that one brother, it wasn't quite as bad as before, and I'm starting to feel a little less like punching him. And my favourite uncle was also up and staying with the parents at their house (he apparently doesn't mind The House). Things were fun with him around, and I know Father had missed his brother, so it was a pleasant surprise.
Christy of course refused to stay in the house, so we were forced to stay in a couple motels. Knowing all the nuances of hotels makes me rather edgy to stay in them myself, but it does beat breathing in moldy air all night.
However now that I'm back, I'm realizing how busy I'm now becoming. Panicing slightly at barely having started the three plushies I'm suposed to be doing, and wondering where I'm going to get the time, trying to finish up my cosplay, being so busy at work and never having a break from many many mountains of laundry that will never go away till after summer, and holy crap everything else. Where's my time machine plz.
I'm still mulling over having left a nice violin at a pawn shop too. Being in fair condition, I was offered $125 for it, and I like an idiot didn't even test play it to see about the quality, so now am just left wondering if it was really better than my current one or not. Since I know a thing or two about those kind of instruments, I'd say it was better, judging by the make, material, and condition. A thousand dollar violin for just a hundred bucks is nothing to sniff at, especially when it's not cracked or damaged at all. But I also just don't know if I'm into violin playing enough anymore to justify buying it. I hardly pick up my own at all anymore. I suppose it's too late, I'd have to play it before letting anyone buy it for me, and I've no idea when next I'd go down to star vally anyways. Perhaps it's just as well, though half hand made, half factory finished is pretty good, what I'd really like is a completely hand carved one. But that's a completely unrealistic thought, since those run for three thousand and much higher.. I dunno.
Ah yeah, then we got a bit of a surprise when we came home from our trip to find the east hills of Blackfoot billowing out smoke. And here I thought we were all done with the random fire thing. Ironically, I think we saw the very lightning storm that did it, when we were at the parents house. And this time it's even closer, being less than 10 miles away, and clearly visable. Last night we took a drive to see it closer, and got right to the foot of the hills in question. The orange and red fire was really pretty in the dark. And tonight it looks to be a bit bigger and perhaps closer, since I can see the red glow right now on the east hills, from clear over here on the west end of the town. The sky is now so covered in smoke, that just walking outside causes one to cough with the smell of it, and the moon is sickly yellow. There are sparce groves of trees over there, so I think it's mainly a brush fire, which is better than a full fledged forest fire, being less dangerous. And considering that we haven't been given any evacuation warning, and that only the homes right next to those hills have been evacuated, I don't think there's any need to worry. It seems the firefighters are very confident in their abilities to keep the fire contained so it'll just burn itself out.
But the red fire is so pretty at nighttime, a crazy part of me will miss it. Why is fire and destruction so pretty??
