November by Rhinocio

Remembrance Day (as how we members of the Commonwealth of Nation refer to Armstice Day) is still a good 3 days away. So why post this 3 days early?

Well... I was driving in downtown Toronto over the weekend and the idea of turning Remembrance Day into a statutory holiday was one of the issues that was being discussed over the radio. I was weighing in my own personal opinions about the matter and as much as its nice to get a day off, the likelihood of people going to attend Remembrance Day events on a stat holiday is really unlikely.

Remembrance Day is too important to be forgotten now that we no longer have any surviving WW1 war veterans and our WW2 vets are quickly dying off as well. They're usually the ones who come to schools and have kids be aware of the rich military history that awakened our national identity. And its sad to realize that the only exposure that the younger generation of Canada today to Remembrance Day is that 60 second of silence in schools to commemorate the signing of the Armstice in WW1 at 11 AM on November 11. Making this day a stat holiday will take even that last bit away.

This is the main reason why I decided to release this video a few days earlier than Remembrance Day. I hope this video inspires you, our viewers, to research about what our soldiers have done and are still doing to make sure we enjoy the freedoms we have now.

So wherever you may be at the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month... please honour the hundreds of thousands of Canadians who served and are continuing to serve our country and willingly made sacrifices in Canada's name in the Great War, World War 2, Korea, the Gulf War, Afghanistan, and Canada's many peace keeping missions... lest we forget.
