On Poland.

In case it's not obvious from my icon, I actually love Feliks, and Pol/Liet is one of the finest pairings to cross my fandom-consciousness since I was in the Wicked Lovely fandom and shipping Irial/Niall as though my life depended on it *lol random fan history tangent*.

But that's the thing. That works for Feliks, as the short, valley girl-accented, mini-badass, skirt wearing seme he (like totally) is, but for Poland it just doesn't seem to fit. If Hetalia is based on stereotypes (which it is) then when has that been the stereotype for poles? At least where I'm from, Poland gets viewed as being far to intensely catholic for such things, and in your face about it, not really fitting him at all.

Not that I'm saying I want him to change, because he wouldn't be him then, and it's toned down enough in canon to still fit, my problem is more what the fandom does with him. Because, frankly, having read things where "his valley girl accent almost covered up his polish one" or he shows up to world meetings in a schoolgirl outfit, I have to say, I am not amused. No. Feliks might wear skirts at times, but he is not Noto-Sama. You can't reduce an entire country to being a preppy teenager (excluding Scandinavia and the World's Sister America, but that one actually makes sense).

There are more things, such as how the Vilnius War is portrayed in fic, but they have been covered in other rants.
