History? Ignored? Whyyyy???? (or why polliet is wrong)

Okay I'll start off by saying hello :) it's my first time posting, hope I'll get this right.

The main subject I want to wank about is the way Lithuanian - Polish relations are portrayed in hetalia. (NOTE: I know hetalia is not a history book and does not need to be 100 proc. accurate, neither am I hating on the pairing itself... just hear me out)

The whole rant. Plus history. )

character: poland, general: fandom, character: lithuania, general: canon

Think a minute here. Why hasn't Himaruya really talked about the period in which they didn't get along at all? Because Poland and Lithuania are not main characters. There are tons of historical periods for the main characters that haven't been touched upon yet, so why does it make you so upset that one particular period in Polish-Lithuanian history hasn't been brought up yet? The key word here, also, is "yet". One thing that's always rubbed me the wrong way when people talk about things that they want to see in Hetalia and think really should be there, be it events or new characters or what have you, is this tendency to talk like Hetalia is a finished series. It's not. Himaruya is drawing new strips and creating new characters all the time.

Also due to the nature of the series, Himaruya probably isn't going to be putting anything in the comic that makes any one character look like a total villain. A large part of the appeal to Hetalia is that all of the characters, despite their flaws, are lovable. If he does touch on that period, it's not going to portray Poland as a cruel, insufferable jerk. If that's what you want, you're not going to get it.

I'd also like to point out that in canon Poland and Lithuania aren't some perfect couple. Poland does walk all over Lithuania pretty often in more modern strips. Lithuania doesn't like that he does that. He likes Poland and Poland likes him, but Lithuania definitely thinks Poland has some major flaws. Fandom ignores that, yeah, but this is a fandom where you regularly find fluff for FrUK and Russia/America.

Nono, it's okay, you're right. I did get a bit abrasive there, since I have a lot of ships that tend to come under fire re; "historical accuracy", usually much worse than this. So it kind of annoys me. But yeah, I was quick to assume that, though if that IS what they want, they probably won't get it.

Agreeing with you so hard. Especially with how people act like Himaruya can't add more to the series. It's not like it's finished yet!

I know, it's just the weirdest attitude ever. I noticed it a lot back when Monaco came out, and Wy and Seborga. "bawww Himaruya thinks micronations are more important than Portugal/Mexico/the Philippines/etc! So he didn't put [insert commonly requested nation here] in his comic but put in Wy and Seborga!"

Or maybe he just had the idea for how he wanted to put Wy and Seborga in but doesn't know what to do with the commonly requested big nations yet?
