Haters OCs...

My first post un this community... Phew...

So, today, I'll wank about people who dislike Hetalia, but contribute to the fandom (OCs, etc...). A few minutes ago, I went on Tegaki, on a entry that got my attention. This person clearly hates Himaruya, but contribute to the APH OC tag ! I know that in RPG, some groups may include even those who don't ( Read more... )

God, this bitch. Seriously. Ooh, an anime is historically inaccurate! Jesus. >> That has to be my number one pet hate when people complain about Hetalia. How many movies, TV shows, plays, books, etc etc are based on historical events but wildly inaccurate? Are you gonna complain about all those too?

I can't believe I'm making such a vitriolic comment, but it really annoys me. >>

It annoys me too. XD How can you hate the inaccuracy in one fandom but be okay with it in another? It doesn't make sense.

The sad thing is, I think it's hype aversion. Hetalia was niche, it was cool to be into it. It got big, it's supposedly cool to hate on it now. So sick of these edgy hipsters getting on their high horses...

I HATE people like that. So, so MUCH. If you liked it before, how is it that it's suddenly awful now? Augh!

Someone posted on the anonmeme, something to the effect of 'how dare Hetalia fans complain about the dub based on OOCness, they should be complaining about the racism.' I was so tempted to reply. It saddens me that our fandom really does seem to be loathed these days.

People are willing to judge so quickly, they're missing out on a fun series, but that's their issue.

She also said Himaruya was a cultural butcher who didn't know anything... Does she know Himaruya is one of the rare mangakas who like to travel and who is constantly fascined by each journey ?

He might be a culture butcher but she butchers legible handwriting and English.

Well, most manga-ka are not only limited by a small income but are usually tied down to a super-tight schedule, so they can't exactly travel whenever they feel like it. (Especially if they publish a chapter every week)

Himaruya is one of the lucky few who seem to have some kind of breathing room for recreation and drawing :D (Though, drawing and recreation can be the same thing, but under harsh deadlines it can be stressful)

But you're right, he isn't a cultural-butcher by any means.

True. I'm lucky Himaruya doesn't work for Shueisha, otherwise he wouldn't have the time to study some countries while he is working on some of is works (not only Hetalia, but also Chibisan Date).

And remember, hating fluff and anything historical that is not completely dark and edgy is edgy n' hip too...

I <3 fluff. I'm not a dark and edgy fan. Those kinds of haters amuse me. XD
