Fic recs!

Nov 15, 2009 21:10

Okay, I've gone through my pitifully short list of Hetalia fics on del.icio.us (I haven't been active in the fandom that long...) and found ten good not-crack fics that I'll recomend up in here! I don't tend do del.icio.us fics until their finished, so these are all one-shots and I don't have a convenient list anywhere of ongoing fics... I'll try to put recs up as I think of them though.

Title: Legacy
Author: Zalia Chimera
Character(s): Prussia, England, America main, with half the rest of the world on the sidelines
Pairing(s): Mention of Prussia/England, Germany/Italy, although they aren't focussed upon
Rating: R
Summary: After England's death, a new power rises from the ashes.
Prussia perched on the bar stool, tilting it precariously as the barman brought over a pint. England pulled out a silver cigarette case, another relic as much as shiny boots and swearing allegiance to a monarch.

Title: A Peculiarly English Fascination with the Purity of Blood
Author: Gileonnen
Characters: England, France, Ukraine, Belarus, Bulgaria, Greece, Germany, humans fictional and historical
Warnings: Dodgy consent, racism, colonialism, Marxism, vampires, other undead, and strong tea
Rating: R
Summary: England has been looking dreadfully pale, of late.
It is nothing in his manner that draws France's attention, but rather, an indefinable sense of power in potentia. He has lived through enough revolutions to feel that slight shifting of balance, that infinitesimal change in the wind--England has changed.

Title: Faraway
Author: Sephi J
Rating: Ahh... PG-13 for blood?
Characters/Pairing: Russia, Lithuania. Russ/Lith implied.
Summery: The days following Bloody Sunday, and the effect that it took on Lithuania and Russia, as nations capable of both thought and emotions.
Nicholas was absent, a fact that the captive nation Lithuania held in great contempt. After claiming to love his country so much he couldn't face the damage that he had caused. Why was everyone so greedy?

Title: History Books Forgot About Us
Author: Runi-chan
Characters: Italy, Germany, mentions of others
Rating: T
Warnings: none really, though it's a bit sad, and there's very little dialogue.
Summary: "Was ist es?" he murmurs. He is too tired to push Felicianio's fingers away. The Italian shakes his head, and his smile is soft. He bites at his cheek, willing himself not to crumble.
Ludwig has a strong face. It matches the rest of him, well built. Strong. Italy traces the lines of the face visually (he doesn't want to wake Ludwig), and notices, not for the first time, that it's a familiar face. He can recall someone else with this face, who promised to return and never did.

Title: Listen
Author: RWQ
Rating/Warning: PG13 for cursing
Pairing/Characters: If you squint, implied Arthur/Alfred?
Summary: Arthur doesn’t know how to listen to him. Alfred will have to fix that.
It’s beyond frustrating, to finally come up with the courage to say what he has been wanting to say for what feels like centuries, only to have his words fall to deaf ears, only to hear Arthur’s mocking laughter of disbelief.

Title: No Mercy For She / Training Wheels
Author: Dani-chan
Character/Pairing: Belarus-centric. Mentions of Germany and Russia / America/Belarus. Kinda.
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Set durring WWII, as Belarus is captured by Nazi forces. / America's observations about Belarus.
Byelorussia had long grown used to the pounding on her doors when people wanted her Brother. They always wanted him - wanted to control the might that he commanded.

Title: One Reverential Man
Author: wizzard890
Rating: PG
Warnings: A brief depiction of Russia's childhood. Nothing too awful, though.
Summary: Russia's been gazing at the moon since he was old enough to know what it was. And now America's gotten there first.
Russia is staring up at that same moon, his lungs full of smoke. He wants to wrap his fingers around the sharp, perfect edge, pull it down from the sky, and tear it in half.

Title: Vigil
Author/Artist: inner_wings
Character(s) or Pairing(s): Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, could be seen as Russia/Ukraine or just sibling love
Rating: PG-13, maybe
Warnings: Russia having a nervous breakdown?
Summary: The Soviet Union falls, and Ukraine tries to keep Russia from breaking beyond repair.
Technically, she and Belarus weren't even supposed to be there anymore. The Belavezha Accords said that they weren't a part of the Soviet Union anymore.

Title: Lights
Author: MasterFranny
Characters: Little!England (Britannia) and fairies
Rating: G-ish.
Warnings: mentions of old times. Screw that. Old times warning.
Summary: Britannia has found himself alone for the first time and is scared.
It was flashing and vibrating, and it was floating at his eyes height, glowing of a yellow, calm hue. It was bright, really bright, and in the middle of the almost complete blackness of the forest, it was unexpected and it hurt his eyes.

And on rare occasion, one does find a doujin that isn't crack and is totally awesome. I highly recomend this one, it's been scanlated and it's super-long.
Title: 新世界より愛を込めて ("from the New World, With Love")
Circle/Artist: 夢歌 (Yumeuta) / 那珂みかな (Mikana Naka)
Characters/Pairings: US x England/British Empire, Canada, many other cameos
Rating: PG-13
Pages: 224
Warnings: Lots of history, and an interpretation of events/characters that differs from the official one. Pgs.166-192 contain a kinda violent / disturbing scene. And don't be surprised when some...weird stuff happens near the end.
Summary: Epic, dark, serious story that covers events from the 1600's~post WWII. Of course, don't expect everything to be true to the facts, as the events are told with a USxUK twist.
