“Some years from now, you will rule the kingdom of Las Islas Filipinas. Did you ever think about that, mija? Your hermanos will all become knights and soldiers. Your hermanas will go foreign lands to find love. But I see you are the only child under me who actually takes interest in the kingdom and ruling it! Once I retire, you will become Queen…” Her adoptive father’s words echoed through her mind.
“I will?!” She remembered herself say that.
He nodded and smiled at her. “But, mija, you will have to go and marry a man who you truly love. Just make sure he is a good one.” Her father pinched her chubby cheeks and she giggled. “Please marry someone you will never regret marrying

She had a scowl look on her face as her father lectured her.
“Boxing, Maria, is a dangerous game!” Her father, King Antonio Carriedo, snapped. She had been caught by one of her father’s soldiers. He had almost got a heart attack when he was informed. His princess simply had a grudge over the soldier. “You could’ve gotten hurt!”
The said person revealed her arms and rolled up her dress to show no bruises or marks. “See? Nothing! I am a strong woman and I defeated all of my competitors.”
Antonio ran his hand on his face. “It’s not that simple, Maria”-
“So you’re being sexist as usual?” His princess scoffed and folded her arms across her chest. “ You are saying women can’t play sports and things men are freely to do? What kind of man are you? It’s not fair!”
He had enough of her. She was being stubborn. Maria had no right to question him. Was he her real father who could rule over her? That was a no. Even if she called him “Father” or “Papa”, he was not her real father. He was simply her mentor. But of course, King Antonio Carriedo, was her adoptive father. Was she of royal blood even if she was adopted? Yes.
“Maria, go up to your room and get ready for the ball. I don’t want to hear all these nonsense. We are to talk about this another time. Go, the guest will arrive soon,” he ordered her sharply.
“I’m sorry, papa,” she forcedly said.
“Està bien.” Antonio felt uncomfortable and walked away to visit his tomato garden to release his anger building inside him.
She knew if she disobeyed him, she was just adding fuel to the fire. Maria gritted her teeth together. She spun around and stormed off upstairs to her room. Why couldn’t she be like her brother Alejandro or Romano? They could do whatever they wanted. But in all, Maria was his princess and he did not want her to get damaged.
“Is Papa getting really annoying to you, mi Hermana?” Her older “brother”, Alejandro questioned her. He was leaning against the railings of the balcony overlooking downstairs. He had spectated everything that happened between them.
“What do you think, Kuya?” She kept stomping off to her room with a pair of flats.
Alejandro chuckled and nodded. His raven hair was neatly combed. Her brother wore a tan suit with a red ribbon substituting for a tie. “After all these years, you are not used to his overprotectiveness? I’m surprised, mi Hermana.”
Maria rolled her eyes and smiled. At least she had one member of the family who was actually nice and gave her personal space. Romano was just very anti-social and she just wanted to get close with him.
“He’s a jerk,” she laughed it off. Maria entered her room and shut the door behind her. She took a shower and the maids did her hair into pretty tendrils. Her hair was accessorized with three Sampaguita flowers and beautiful pearls. Maria chose a bow front strapless dress with white on top and royal blue down. She paired it up with black shoes.
“My lady, I have to admit you look stunning!” One of her maids gushed and clasped her hands together.
“Thank you, Dmitri,” Maria said and giggled. She dismissed them eventually. As she passed a full body mirror as she practice gestures, she stopped to gaze at herself. Dmitri was right. What a grown woman she had turned into.
The open curtains of the French doors leading to the balcony overlooking the courtyard showed a beautiful sunset of red and orange. It was like someone had water colored the sky. The sky turned darker with every minute passing and rotating from afternoon to nighttime.
Horse-drawn carriages wheeled in the wide driveway of the Carriedo Palace in the Kingdom of Las Islas Filipinas. Noblemen and women in tailored suits and designer dresses entered. Her father wanted to introduce her brother and her to one of his royal friends and their spawns. How great…
A knock sounded on her door. “Your highness, your father is calling for you,” one of the maids said.
“I will come down soon,” Maria said. She inhaled and exhaled trying to calm herself down. Maria nodded to herself. Her exposed arms and legs were getting cold.
The princess of Las Islas Filipinas exited her room only to be greeted with a smiling Alejandro. “My, my. Has my little sister turned into a woman in a matter of hours?” He sneered.
Maria slapped his arm playfully. “We had previous balls and I acted like a total delinquent.”
A new person entered the corridor. It was their “father”. He was dressed in a more elegant outfit. Antonio wore a silk tailcoat tuxedo with sleek black shoes. He wore his priceless gold crown embedded jewels and gems. “Are you ready, Maria, Alejandro? Where is Romano?”
“Here,” a voice entered. Romano came out from the other corridor. He wore an Italian suit and an annoyed look. “I see we are all ready.”
Their father nodded and lead them to the balcony. The guests stopped in their tracks and gazed at the well dressed royalty. Antonio spoke up. “Ah~, my guests!” Antonio had on an optimistic voice. “Welcome to my Palace. I would like you to introduce some of my children. The rest are around foreign lands wanting to make connections sadly.” Maria, Alejandro, and Romano stepped up and waved their hands gracefully. “My sons Alejandro and my daughter Maria will love to socialize with all of you. I am thankful I have all of you here. So please enjoy yourselves and feel like you are at home!”
They clapped and cheered. Maids, butlers, and servants entered the large ball room. Platters of imported wine and snacks were being served around. King Carriedo ushered them downstairs to meet guests.
“Ah, mon chere~!” A flamboyant man with wavy golden hair and a goatee stepped in. Maria remembered him from somewhere. “It is me, Monsieur Francis Bonnefoy~!”
Antonio lunged and hugged him. “Francis~! I’ve missed you so much! Where is Gilbert by the way?”
The ever perverted man laughed and pointed to a silver haired man coming their way. “Hey, Carriedo! You got beer right?”
“Si, si… I have tons,” Antonio said. He ordered a servant to bring Gilbert Beilschmidt his favorite liquor. “You guys must remember my children?”
“Why of course!” Francis said and eyed the three of them. “Ah, Maria, look at you~…”
“Thank you, Oncle Francis,” she said and blushed a faint pink.
“Well she is turning into a fine lady like Elizaveta,” Gilbert pointed out and chuckled. It was good thing that woman wasn’t in plain sight. A servant rushed to Gilbert with a platter of beer. The man grabbed a glass and sipped it to make sure it was quality good. “This is good stuff… Well I’m going to get drunk, anyone want to join me? How ‘bout you, West?”
A blond man with his hair pulled back turned around from admiring a painting. “No, Gilbert… I’m only having wine tonight.” He had a stern face but he had a calm voice.
“Well suit yourself, little bruder,” Gilbert said. He exchanged good-byes with the host and headed to the veranda where more beer was served.
“And it’s time for me to find a new woman,” Francis announced, “Will you excuse me, King?”
“I do not mind,” Antonio happily said. Francis trotted off to find someone to make love with. “I have to talk to some guests. Will all three of you take care of yourselves?”
“Bastard, I’m 18 for heaven’s sake,” Romano groaned. He stormed off to find his twin brother and eventually invite him to the kitchen where they can eat all the pasta they can consume.
“Yes, papa,” Alejandro and Maria agreed in unison.
“Buen, buen.” He left the two of them.
Alejandro sighed and put his hand on his hips. “You do not mind me going off by myself to socialize, Hermana?”
“I don’t. I’m going to get as much alone time outside. So go and have fun, Kuya,” Maria assured him with a warm smile. Alejandro nodded and went off like the rest. “And I am officially alone.”

Maria Carriedo took off her annoying flats and set them aside as she dipped her feet in the cold watered pool. She sat on the sidewalk and admired the night. She was finally alone.
She wished she brought a jacket or something to cover her exposed shoulders and arms. Maria wrapped her arms around herself and thought about topics she unusually talked about.
“Please marry someone you will never regret marrying.”
          Marriage and the kingdom.
After 17 years of living, she never admired men. Maria wanted one to sweep her off her and live happy ever after. But she never believed something that cliché would happen. Her father had borrowed stories from his friend and rival, King Kirkland, and one of them was Cinderella. Maria had wished that happened to her, anyway. And ruling was an another story…
“Are you that cold?” A voice popped out of nowhere. She whirled her body to see a man. He was quite muscular. He had dark blond hair and ocean blue eyes covered with glasses. The man wore a dress shirt with an unfastened tie and black pants. “Here.” He offered her a brown leather jacket.
Maria blushed and tried to say something. “And who are you trespassing my house and my peace?”
He chuckled. “I am Alfred, one of the guest of King Carriedo. And who are you?”
“Maria. No, thank you. You are cold, are you not?”
He kicked off his shoes and socks without warning and dipped his feet in the pool as well. “Well, Maria, what do you think?” Alfred shoved his jacket on her chest. “Take it, please.”
Maria obliged and wore it. “Thank you,” she murmured. “So, Alfred, what are you doing here? Since we are new to each other, at least be modest. You do not act of a nobleman nor of royalty.”
Alfred laughed. “I just needed fresh air that’s all! Plus all those women were getting too close to me like they want to take me for themselves. And look at a noble girl dipping her feet in water. That’s pretty modest of you.”
She snorted. “I wanted to get some peace and now you’re here.”
He kicked his feet and splashed water in the air. Maria screamed. She did revenge by splashing some at his face. Maria giggled and ran off. Alfred chased after her.
“Catch me! NOT!” Maria yelled. She jumped over chairs. The air was pretty wild and her hair flowed perfectly. The con was her dress that ended just a centimeter below her knee flew up revealing her undergarments as she ran and jumped.
“You wear pink undergarments? How lady like!” He sneered.
Maria stopped abruptly and pressed her dress on her skin. She was blushing furiously. Two hands were on her shoulders. The princes froze and looked down. Her toes were at the edge of the tiles. “I’m going to”-
A door creaked open and Alfred gasped and Maria looked for the object making the noise. He took Maria’s arm and pulled her in the pool with him. A big splash sounded. The man who opened the door looked outside and searched of the noise. No one was in sight. “Where is that git…?” The man said to himself and furrowed his thick eyebrows and left.
Once the coast was clear, they broke their heads through the surface. Maria almost had an heart attack and she tried breathing. Alfred looked like he had done this a thousand times.
“You idiot!” She cursed and punched him in the stomach… hard. He screamed in pain and clutched his stomach. It was all thanks to boxing. “Why did you do that?!”
“I did it because we almost got in trouble,” Alfred explained deadpanned.
They climbed back to the sidewalk. “Oh great, my dress is wet! How am I going to explain this to my father?!”
“Let’s wait out here and let the air dry us. It’s pretty wild,” Alfred suggested and took a seat on a nearby beach chair.
       Maria followed and grumbled.
“Don’t be so angry and how about we get to know each other perfectly? What do you say?”
“If that’s not going to make you push me in the pool again, then… it would be a pleasure to know such a delinquent like you.” Maria’s frown turned upside down. She needed a good friend.

After hours of socializing and laughter, their hair and clothes were now dry as autumn leaves. They gathered their footwear and wore it back on. Alfred refused to take back his prized leather jacket and gave it to her instead. She folded it up and hanged it over her arm.
“There you are!” Her father exclaimed.
“Alfred, I was worried sick of you!” Another man said. He had blond hair and green eyes. He wore a pinstriped suit and one of his most distracting feature was his enormously thick eyebrows. “Ah, you must be Carriedo’s little princess.”
“And this is your little prince, Kirkland?”
“More like my little pain in the back!”
Antonio laughed and smiled at them. “So, I see both of you have met already.”
Alfred tugged her dress from behind. “You are the princess and you freaking didn’t tell me?”
“And you are a prince?” Maria shot back quietly.
“Maria, mija, why is your hair messy?” Her father questioned her with concern.
Maria gasped and clutch her dark brown hair. “Well… I was showing our guest, Alfred, around the tomato and the flower garden and it was pretty windy. He asked if you are willing to give him some for a good price," she lied.
His father, Kirkland, or maybe known as King Kirkland, sighed. “Alfred… you can’t buy his tomatoes.”
Antonio smiled. “I’d love to share some of my tomatoes! I have enough to last 10 years!” He said proudly.
“Oh papa…” She sighed and forced a sincere smile.
“Well I’m glad you socialized and met with one of my friend’s sons. Oh have you met Matthieu? He’s a nice boy… I just can’t find him,” Antonio said as he searched for the boy.
“I’m right here, Your Highness,” a quiet voice spoke up. He was a man with wavy blond hair with glasses sitting on a chair while sipping wine.  Maria swore she was Alfred for a second. “Hello, I’m Matthieu…”
“Oh, hey, bro!” Alfred grinned and slapped his back. “Where were YOU? No one can ever find you, geez, man!”
Antonio turned his head to his son, Alejandro. He was a little bit sober and his cheeks were red from the intoxication of the drinks. Alejandro tried to keep sane and not collapse. “H-hola, papa… I am a bit sleepy- ALFRED?!”
“Hello, Alejandro,” Alfred said as calm as he could.
Alejandro murmured some things and excused himself to go to bed. Maria was a bit shocked herself. Alejandro and Alfred know each other? How much did she miss out?
“Do you need help, Kuya?” Maria asked him with worry. Even though her brother was the drinking type, it had always ended terribly when he either got sober or drunk. Deducing it, Alejandro was completely helpless.
“Yes, please, mi Hermana,” Alejandro agreed as he glared daggers at Alfred.
Before Maria could help her brother, Alfred cut in front of her and offered help instead. “Non-sense, I’ll take it from here! Maria, you can go and join my father and I.”
       “But”-
“Just go!” Alfred insisted. He put Alejandro’s arm around his shoulders and guided him up to the stairs.
She rolled her eyes and united with her father, his friend, and Alfred’s brother. This is going to be a long night, Maria thought to herself as she glanced nervously upstairs.

A/N: Thank you for reading this! No seriously, I thought of this story for a minute and immediately typed it down! The following
chapters will be longer. And this is my first entry in the Hetalia-PH community... I hope I'll feel welcome :D! Anyways, yeah. Oh Alfred, pushing a girl you just met into a pool with you isn't polite -shakes head disapprovingly- MEXICO! You know what's weird is that I live 5 miles away from the Mexican border (Yes, I am located in South Texas, you stalkers) and I don't feel scared at all, I love them tamales plus most of my friends are hispanic and I'm Filipino (Spain is stalking me...) And this is the first time I'm writing him in a fic -cue dramatic teary eyed scene- And I don't see a trace of humor here! There will be in later chapters...

Hmm... Let's see, basketball and school are keeping me away from my beloved world of anime, writing, and drawing!

In Soviet Russia, Maria pushes Alfred in the pool :DD
Crap, what am I doing, I have an art project to do...Stop typing this...

Heh, salamat!
