Title: Ontario
Status: Complete
Characters, Pairings: Russia/France, England, America, Canada, ensemble
Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Russia and France make the most of the last secret moments they have together during the final G8 meeting.

Staffer's Review: This is a exquisitely written look at two nations who, despite their terrifying reputations, are still capable of feeling love and desire and loss. The intimate scenes are lovely, but even more striking are the other nations' prejudices against France and Russia, which lend this fic a realistic link back to the original source material.

Title: Rules of the Game
Status: Complete
Characters, Pairings: North Italy/Germany
Rating: 3 stars
Summary: North Italy asks Germany if he wants to play a game. Germany may be the one giving the orders, but we know who's really in charge.

Staffer's Review: I love this fic because it shows trust and love, and affection for each other - the sex isn't "hey I love you NOW LET'S HAVE SEX"; it's simply "I love you." It feels like this is only one expression of that affection, not the ultimate goal of affection.

This is one of my favorite fics in the kink meme, actually, and has been for some time.

Title: Whatever Makes You Happy
Status: Complete
Characters, Pairings: Germany/North Italy
Rating: 2 stars
Summary: North Italy must obey his boss's orders. Germany won't hear any excuses. (warning: noncon)

Staffer's Review: I like how this fic takes history and personalizes it, and how North Italy may be bubbly, but he's not stupid. Germany, too, does horrible things - and knows he is doing horrible things - but blinds himself to it by choice, with varying degrees of success. I can't say I approve of the content, but I like the way it's treated, and the voice with which it is treated - the portrayal of Italy is especially well-done for how close to canon it is, and Germany - well, that you see when you read it.

Title: Sockdollager
Status: Complete.
Characters, Pairings: Poland/Lithuania
Rating: 2 Stars.
Summary: In 1918, Lithuania meets the new and proud Poland once again. One kind of dancing turns into another.

Staffer's Review: I don't like Poland or Lithuania, together or not, and I like this fic a great deal. Poland speaks fashionably even in the era in which it takes place, and Lithuania's affection for him is not what's in question - that's a granted; what's in question is rather how their relationship will have changed with time. There's also a deft historical-political touch to it that's very subtle but truly sets the atmosphere.

Title: Everyday's Most Quiet Need
Status: Complete
Characters, Pairings: America/England
Rating: 2 Stars
Summary: What starts as play becomes painfully close to the heart.

Staffer's Review: A unique take on the ups and downs of America's and England's relationship. The fill is a balance of fluff and drama as the two nations write on each others' skin. Their interaction goes to show that despite England's prudery and America's childishness, they find expression of what they truly want to convey to each other in writing.

Title: Croatoan
Status: Complete.
Characters, Pairings: America/England, Japan, ensemble.
Rating: 3 Stars.
Summary: On a trip to Roanoke Island one Halloween night, America vanishes without a trace. One year later, England and Japan walk into a completely different world and must defeat a powerful witch to save both America and themselves.

Staffer's Review: A truly epic and awesome story that grabs you from the get-go. One of the highlights of this story is its deep exploration into England's mind and the realization of what he feels towards America. But that's just one part of it. The action and suspense scenes are superb and the magic touches extraordinary. There are no superfluous moments; everything is important to the overall plot. Not to mention, it's just excellent writing. A definite must-read.

Title: Hey, Grandpa!
Status: Complete
Characters, Pairings: Germania, Prussia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland
Rating: 1 Star
Summary: Germania is outwardly nonplussed at how his grandchildren grew up.

Staffer's Review: This could otherwise be titled, "The Mutual Awkwardness of Having Long Dead Relatives Drop By for a Visit." The humor in this fill is deliciously understated, relying solely on characters and clever dialogue. But what also makes this fic funny is the fact that it's a mutual reaction towards each other, rather than just Germania observing his grandchildren or vice versa. That Prussia is probably the only one enjoying himself is also hilarious. Essentially, it's family, dysfunctional and very...German.
