Original Request: I've seen a lot of various H/C disaster fics including several for the Titanic. Recently I was reminded of a different maritime disaster that involved a set of characters I don't believe I've seen much H/C disaster fic with.
On September 27, 1994 the cruiseferry MS Estonia set sail from Tallinn, Estonia heading for Stockholm Sweden with 989 passengers and crew on board. Most of the passengers were Scandinavian, with the majority of those being from Sweden, most of the crew were from Estonia. In the early hours of the 28th it ran into trouble and sank. Of the 989 on board 852 were lost. The ship remains where she sank as a protected no-dive site.
As for the exact prompt for this. I'm not really going to be all that picky anything as long as it involves the disaster, lots of Estonia and the Nordics or the other nations involved. Extra bonus for lots of Sweden/Estonia interaction since they had the greatest amount of losses between them. Gen would be preferred for this one...but if you want to take it in a different direction that's alright.
