Original Request: My head canon for the Original 13 Colonies/States is that they are not America's children but sprung up much like he did out of nowhere when their specific colonies were founded. America is still America representing the land as a whole and apart from them but they're there too watching over their own lands and people. They grow up much faster then America and he doesn't have a lot of interaction with them (because England didn't allow it, keeping him isolated keeps him dependent on England after all). They don't think about him much since they all belong to England who some of them have their problems with him but some of them get along with him just fine. Then America hits his growth spurt, starts having his own problems with England and gets his bright idea for his Revolution and eventually the colonies have to choose whose side they're on. Some of them easily choose to follow America some of them need a bit of convincing...
That's what I want to see America and England vying against each other to get the various colonies to be on their side even as the war gets started around them. Show me what makes each of the colonies eventually choose to side with America, who really has nothing much to offer them besides a hope and a dream that they can work together and really make this idea of his work, over England who can offer them stability and protection and just about whatever they want (at a price of course). Show them interacting with America and England (either separately or even together on occasion)
Summary: Through the struggles of his revolution, America comes to understand his colonies better.
