His parents died. *is blunt* Arthur couldn't get custody, Germania wasn't allowed custody, Roderich and Vash and his parents didn't want custody, so Berwald took him in. Alfred mentioned something about it in his essay...or if he didn't he meant to.

Oh my god, I've read the entire thing (with those short drabbles and essays!!) and... god, the essays are hilarious! Like... idk! The world from a child's view! It's so adorable x'D Though Ivan was kinda creepy x'D
