no, england was japan's ally at this time, in one of the strips which has actually been animated, they got their facts wrong, when "england" frane and russia help china get the liaodang (?) peninsula back, England was actually trying to help Japan keep it at that time and they managed successfully but they had to hand it back because russia and france made a contract out of it
