Was that how we always were, Poland wondered in his delirium. From the beginning we’ve been treading the cold water of the Baltic, keeping each other’s heads just above the waves and paddling for the shore.

This is my favorite part; it might be my favorite thing you've ever written, and that is saying something. PS. The subtitle oh my god

KYAAA!!!! This is so sad and... man, war is always hard to read for me, makes me feel sick to my stomach when it's written well enough (and like, what am I doing in Hetalia fandom then, right? X3) But this... FRANCIS, DAMN IT!!!

*Huggles Poland and Liet plushies*

I love the way you portrayed Poland. That guy just doesn't get a break.
Totally reminds me of this wiki article I read recently:
Western betrayal or Yalta betrayal are popular terms in many Eastern and some Central European countries but especially in Poland and the Czech Republic which refers to the foreign policy of several Western countries which violated allied pacts and agreements during the period from the Treaty of Versailles in 1919 through World War II and to the Cold War, as rooted in hypocrisy and betrayal.

Seriously, stories like this make me glad that I'm in the fandom. Thank you.

ahhh Western betrayal! yes, sadly it was nothing new back then I guess? poland has a sad history of fighting other peoples' wars and not getting much in return!

Thanks for reading and saying such nice things fjhd

SHHHHHHHIT. I'm getting patriotic and it's totally your fault ;-;

Really though, this moved me. I love your style and the way of depicting the history. I don't usually read this kind of fanfiction but thanks to you I might start to like it. I'm definitely reading your other fics later~
Thank you for this!

Wow damn. Thanks for writing this, I really had NO IDEA ABOUT ANY OF THIS HAVING HAPPENED. ;;;; *lovesloves this fandom for the stuff you learn* And a great take on Poland's character. He was totally IC while being a lot deeper than in canon. Ouch, did I even feel for him. Poor fellow. >_>;;; If you look at his history, you just can't help but to pity him.

And uhh... xD; I think you made me hate Francis a bit. Baww, my favourite character... /o/;;; Oh well, you got to get used to the fact that all nations are bastards. At least some of them admit it, unlike my own.

Anyway, great, great, great fic. \o/ Thanks!

thanks!! Poor France. i mean, the debate is still on whether Napoleon meant any of the lavish praise he gave the Polish Legion, but inevitably they just wound up getting screwed over by the French in the end. BUT YOURE RIGHT all nations have their bad sides.

fjdhs thanks for all the nice things youve said! And for reading this at all, thanks!
