In the current official setting, who calls France, the world’s big brother, “big brother”, “brother” or “big bro” and actually means it?
Right now I think Monaco and Italy do, but there are probably others as well.
Hmm... I wonder who these characters are? Seychelles and Canada come to mind for me. The latter seems to be really common in fanworks so it'd be interesting if we got official confirmation on this. In the old Gakuen Hetalia games, France was said to have raised Seychelles so I wouldn't be surprised she did call him that as well.
Edit: I forgot to mention I passed the word through Tumblr via hetaliaarchives (both Andy (FH14/barjonabombers) and I run the blog) so hopefully we'll get some more activity going here. I also passed on the info regarding this entry as well so we can get some ideas flowing again. The old community has become very nostalgic recently on Tumblr but it will be ( ... )

I don't know if Canada would call France "big brother" because I think if he did that, he might feel like he's favoring France over England. But other than that, I agree that it would make sense.

I was wondering what were people's opinions about the movie about Yao owing Alfred? Owing money to China is a sensitive subject, and the strip about it bothered me. Even though Americans make a lot of movies where the bad guy is Russian or German. Hima does not show Ludwig or Ivan doing anything wrong or Alfred beating them up to save the day. This movie was clearly showing Yao controlling/owing Alfred. There was not even a closing to it. Just he owns him. It was just upsetting to me is what I am trying to say.
When we RP or write fics or answer questions as Characters. We stay away from current events for that reason. It would be right up there with showing Ivan beating the heck out of Ukraine (Though yes that is an extreme example and many lives have been lost so that would be worse.) The point is it is in bad taste.
There is so much in history he can cover. I just wish he would avoid current events. (Negative ones at the least, even if they are fictional movies based on them.)

Hima did reference movies before, although since I'm usually not familiar with them, I have no idea how old or current they were.
But personally, I'm fine with him referencing current events as long as it's done in a respectful manner. If you want to blame anyone for touching that China issue, blame the already existing fiction, namely the movie in question. ;)
I think it would be a bigger issue if he had depicted the characters in some kind of violent act (although even that could be okay depending on context - Switzerland shooting France back in that one Christmas special was just funny, in my opinion). But debt? That has always been a thing, and I don't think it will lead to any change of character or plot.

I actually didn't think of it as America watching the movie, more as him being distracted by the popcorn and England maybe zapping or something. I could be wrong, though, wouldn't be the first time. ^^

But back to the movie. Considering it was an Indy film he would have likely had to have rented it. I am sure there is an Indy channel somewhere, but that movie would not be playing on just any channel and he watched enough of it to actually feel worried for Alfred.

If you hate/despise the canon information, aren't you denying the author and the author's characterization?
Seriously, I think you should criticize/stay away from the ugly part of the fandom more rather than the author. Like fics about China owning America's ass for his debt
and on lighter note: it's just a parody of a movie so yada yada, the author could parody anything they want, including Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

I am not denying the author(s) characterization. But It does not mean I have to like it.

I won't be offended having Romania portrayed as Dracula like those American movies. Or HK parodying Kungfu Hustle. Like, it's a parody. Will it crush your character personality? Not at all. Will it produce more fanarts? Probably. Will it ruin my beloved character? Nope. Will I not love this character because of the parody? Nope.
A movie parodying something being parodied into a series of parody, we're talking about that to begin with
