Ask and ye shall receive! Based on the art!anon's awesome comic <3 RECaptcha: Ol Sourly <- How did you know???

The Finnish man looked down at the floor and twined his hands together.

It hurt. It hurt that Tino wouldn’t even look at him. No, couldn’t. It wasn’t wouldn’t: it was couldn’t. He was too frightening. Finland couldn’t tell him while looking at his face.

“I’m sorry,” Finland shook his head slowly, the golden locks of hair swaying from side to the other, “It’s not that I’ll be seeing anyone else, I just can’t do this. Not now, I-" The broken Swedish died off and moved into garbled Finnish, something Belward was only moderately proficient in. All he could really decipher was the apologies, one of the first things he had really worked at learning in Finnish, to apologize for all of the mistakes he had made.

He wouldn’t not let it show, that would only make it harder for Tino. He turned to look stoically at the window he stood beside, “Why?”

He didn’t need Tino to answer, the reflection in his own window did all of the answering he needed.

Tino did anyways, of course he did. He was too nice not to, “I’m sorry Sweden,” Looking in the reflection in the window he could see Finland look up at him, “To answer your question…I really am still afraid of you.”

Hearing him say it hurt even more.

Tino took a step forwards, his hands balled into fists, “It’s not anything you did, the problem is all mine-“ He broke off and rose a hand to cover his face, “I like you I really do! I just need some-" The voice stopped when Belward turned around, moving towards his stereo, “Wait, what are doing?”

It was stupid, he knew it was stupid even as he put the disk into the CD player. But he couldn’t stop himself. He couldn’t stop thinking about how Denmark danced like a fool and how he looked so different and gentle. He couldn’t help but think of how Belward had attempted it once, just once, with Peter who had giggled and smiled even when he was normally skittish and startled around the Swede.

It was a long shot, and it was stupid.

But it was something he would do for Finland. Even if he only had a .01% chance, it was worth it. He clicked the button.

The ridiculously cheery music filled the room as the Swedish man fought down a blush, turning around to do the stupid dance, hands on his head, flopping like a cat’s as he bounced side to side. “’M I sc’ry n’w?”

Finland was looking at him but not with the desired amusement, “Actually, yes.”

At the words he stopped immediately, nodding curtly, “’m s’rry th’n. ‘m s’rry c’n’t be n’rm’l f’r ya’.” He couldn’t even be less frightening then Denmark.

“No!” Tino looked away, as confused and as sorrowful looking as ever, despite the cheery music in the background, “It’s not like that, I just need time. I don’t want you change, I just need to get used to it! I-I’ve really come to like you the way you are it’s just…” The Finnish man sighed, “It’s like a rollercoaster. You know you’ll love it and you really want to get on, but you just can’t because it’s too…” Tino looked up, his eyes so clear and wide, “I’m not making any sense am I?”

“’t m’kes s’nce.” Sweden turned around, unable to allow the inappropriately sugary pop song to continue playing and turned it off, the silence it left in it’s wake deafening, “’s ‘lr’ght. ‘m n’t stup’d. I ‘nd’rst’nd, ‘s ‘kay.”

He couldn’t bring himself to turn around or look at Finland. He would understand with any luck and leave. Belward wouldn’t bother him anymore. Maybe it would be better this way. Finland wouldn’t spend his time out of the house just to avoid him, he wouldn’t see Tino’s horrified face waking up next to him. Tino would be happier. That was best.

The Swedish man stiffened as a hand was gently placed on his arm, breaking his thought process. He looked over but Tino was looking down at the ground, “I think we did this too fast. It was run away and move in. Too much too fast.” His Swedish was a lilted with his accent, “What do you say we take it back to the basics?” Finland looked up at him with a quavering smile and nervous eyes, but he was looking at him, “I’ll move back into my house, you into yours. I won’t be…” Tino chuckled shakily, looking back down at the ground, “I won’t be your wife. But…I can be your boyfriend. We can date. We can do the stuff we never got to do. Go out to dinner, and get to know each other. Give each other gifts and go over to each other houses. We can go out drinking and get roaring drunk and do something crazy like…talking to people we don’t know. I don't know, we can do anything we want to really. We'll work it up from the ground up, build a foundation.” Tino looked up at him again, his eyes determined, “I want this to work, what do you say?”

“Tha’ b’sics?” It was less than what they had but it was the chance for more. Sweden nodded trying not to smile, he didn’t come off well when he did. Maybe Tino was right, maybe they needed to take a step back and get to know each other. He’d spent years floundering around desperately trying to find a way not to frighten Tino, he’d even resorted to the most embarrassing thing he could ever imagine and preformed Carameldansen. Maybe if he knew Tino better he would know what to do, what to change and what he didn’t need to, how to be a better husband, or boyfriend rather. “I’d l’ke th’t.”

It was good to see Tino smile.

It was even better to see Tino smile at him.

Notes

-Badly done Finnish: Perusasiat = The basics (the fundamentals)

-Finland is officially bilingual, speaking both Finnish and Swedish. Sweden on the other hand only has Swedish as an official language. That's why I think they would talk in Swedish mostly

-Both Finns and Swedes are somewhat infamously introverted. Talking to someone they don't know could jokingly be called something crazy to do

-IDK, but I loved the comic that was done, so here you go! I hope you forgive the fail and enjoy it none the less!

Awwwwwwwwww~ This was really sweet~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Aside from a few grammatical mistakes (then and than, it always gets to me >_<), nothing serious. Anon love this very much, seeing Berwald trying to do his best to make himself not scary looking when all he need to do is just be himself. Wait, that's already his default look... OTL

Lol~

Nonetheless, this was really cute~~~~~~~~~~

I just... oh my god.

The entire fic was adorable and hilarious, but what got me laughing really, really, really hard was "do something crazy like…talking to people we don’t know."

I LOVE THAT THAT IS FINLAND'S IDEA OF "CRAZY". PFFF. FIN SO CUTE.
