He jolted when he felt a light hit him, nearly crashing into the window and getting a hand touching his shoulder, steadying him. The crinkled face of an old man staring back.
"Sorry, son... I didn't mean to catch you off guard." He lightly laughed. Gilbert held his heart, trying to figure out who the mentally insane person was. Did he... know..
"You don't know me." He stated, almost like reading his mind, eyes crinkling into a smile. Gilbert gaped. “But I know… that you wish you knew yourself.”
He swiftly held up a photograph, the picture of Gilbert looking into the display window. He handed it to him.
“Keep it. You need it more than I do.”
“…How?”
“You look like you tell a story, son. A story I’ve seen too often. Of someone who’s seen everything, lost everything, and hell, had everything. And learned it can all be taken away with the snap of another’s fingers. Your lost. And your going to always be lost…” He pointed at the picture. “But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give up.”
Gilbert stared, the man patting his shoulder again.
“Go with the second thought. It’s always the wiser.”
This old man, in the middle of nowhere, who barely knew anything about him, unaware of who he was even TALKING to… was making Gilbert start to cry. The tears staining his shirt. Unable to hold back, now letting out the emotion that he wanted to convey in that Doctor’s office. A choked cry escaping his lips as his shoulders started to quake. Vision blurred.
The camera was in his hands, wrinkled, worn fingers making the albino’s curl around it. He smiled, watching Gilbert still sobbing, giving him a scared, confused look.
“Use it. You need it far more than I do.”
“B-but…” Gilbert nearly wailed, still unable to control the emotions spilling out of him. The man waved a hand in his face, shrugging it off before he turned to the street and started walking, leaving Gilbert to stand, watching him, his heart and mind leaping in every direction.
“The second thought!” The old man called back. “Is always the wiser!”
Gilbert looking down at the camera, tears staining it. He turned it over, looking down at it. There were only 20 pictures left. He madly looked up, to call back out to the man, but he was gone. Leaving him alone in the alley, holding the camera tight.
20 pictures. He understood. Gilbert never believed in coincidences. They never existed in the natural world. But that old man, was the closest thing he had every come to one.

Damn, blame it all on this anon listening to sentimental songs while reading this cause anon is already tearing up just from this short part. Losing of the memory is by far one of the saddest thing that could ever befall anyone.
Photographs, memories of it... Anon looks forward to more!!!

20 memories before they were lost.
