One of the small creatures grabbed his leg but he shook it off and it flew into the wall with a shriek luckily for him his boots where rather long and the creatures only managed to gnaw at thick leather and they didn’t seem to be able to jump very high so he stumbled out of the ally continuing to violently kick the bastards away from his boots while at the same time trying to hold into his lighter in one hand to see the creatures and in the other he held the steelpipe that he tried to swing at them but it only succeeded in drawing some of their attention away from his legs. Fuck, fuck, fuck. Get the fuck away from me! But the creatures didn’t relent the least and Arthurs tries to get them away from him only made the creatures more agitated, then Arthur an arm grab him around his chest and lifting him a few centimeters from the ground throwing him away from the creatures and he heard five swift gunshots followed by a quire of unsynchronized screeches and then dead silence. He got up from the ground and quickly turned around only to see, to his great surprise, Officer Ludwig that he met at the gas station some time earlier. The officer gave him a very strict but neutral expression so Arthur felt that he needed to give him an equally serious response.
Ludwig himself looked at the tourist that he’d only found by accident, the town had been surprisingly empty when he got there and after running down the main street and passing the bridge over the river that led out in Toluca Lake he heard a large sound of a siren and the town had been covered in an unexplainable darkness. After searching around with his flashlight he found to his surprise the tourist being attacked by god knows what it was, but it looked like rabid animals so Ludwig took it as his duty to end their lives, and for his brave actions the tourist merely gave him a very annoyed face expression. “We need to get out of here.” Ludwig said remembering the beast dog he encountered before that revived itself after taking a bullet to its head. Ludwig turned around and saw to his joy that the five creatures from before where still dead on the ground, but to his horror at least fifteen others had quickly gathered to start eating on the dead creatures corpses. Upon seeing this Ludwig quickly turned on his flashlight, grabbed Arthur hand and started running as fast as he could.
Arthur saw the same grotesque scene that Ludwig had witnessed but was surprised when Ludwig grabbed his hand and started running. Arthur felt how a frown fell upon his face and tried to pull his hand back but when you are running for your life you don’t think so much about it, and Arthur also heard a familiar howling and sent a shiver down his spine. But his eyes had started to get used to the darkness and now he saw the houses on the sides on the main street that they run down he felt his heartbeat raise a bit when he saw that the facades of the houses where rusty and at places seemed to be dripping with oil like substance. The street they ran on where filled of stains with blood and dirt, bugs where crawling on the ground and some were trying to crawl up their legs. And then suddenly he saw something the sign on the street clearly red “To Rosewater park.” and he stopped dead in his tracks.
