Prologue

Arthur was very tired that morning, happened to be a very grey usual morning. When he looked back on that morning he would strangely remember all of the details that took place. Just exactly how the leaves had piled up under the tree outside the window. Just exactly how his earl grey tea tasted and he would remember that the newspaper informed him of that the economical state of Europe was going downwards. He would remember all of these things so clearly just like you remember everything in detail after you have experienced a life changing event.
“Bloody weather” Arthur mumbled to himself after he left his house and unfolded his umbrella. He was heading towards the subway station with his briefcase clutched in one hand and his umbrella in the other. The subway showed the usual stress of the morning, surrounded by people heading to work in the surprisingly clean subway station Arthur couldn’t help but to think that the renewed subway made him proud. “Please mind the gap between the train and the platform.” A female slightly robotic tone announced from the train. Arthur snapped out of his thoughts and followed the mass of people onto the train and took a seat. He dug in his coat pocket and pulled out a simple white letter. On the envelop it stood, with an all too familiar handwriting, To Arthur from Alfred. He opened the letter only to reread what he red only a few hours ago sitting by his breakfast table eating his scones and drinking his tea;

In my restless dreams, I see that town.
Silent Hill.
You promised you'd come back to see me there again someday. But you never did.
Well I'm alone there now...In our 'special place'...Waiting for you.

Arthur put back the letter in his pocket and closed his eyes. Ten years and I haven’t heard a word from him. Why am I following this seemingly random clue? Is it just some bloody excuse I’m making up to go and see my childhood home? Our special place, he must mean the forest just outside of town where we used to play as kids. “The train goes towards Heathrow airport. Doors closing.”

Chapter 1 anonymous June 9 2009, 13:31:01 UTC
It was in the middle of the night when the plane landed on the other side of the Atlantic and Arthur sat his foot on what wasn’t his birth country, but a country filled with precious memories. Fuck! The weather isn’t any better here. He cursed to himself as he walked the short distance between the airport and the car rental. A few hours later Arthur was leaving the city and setting his way towards Silent Hill. After a few hours out of the highway he had a feeling at the back of his head that there was something important that he had forgotten, he narrowed his eyes to see better in the rain and darkness in front of him when he passed a gas station and then he made an important realization. “Tea time!”

He turned off at the gas station and seated himself with a warm cub of earl grey. These look cheap. Arthur compared the plastic mug with his tea mug at home and was very disappointed. The cashier behind him looked tired and disinterested in her only costumer. Arthur felt a feeling of relaxation fill his body but it didn’t last for long since he was interrupted by his body reminding him that he suffered a jetlag. He was just about to get back into the car when his cellphone rang, a number he didn’t recognize. “Kirkland here.” He answered and recognized the voice on the other side all to quickly and left his left eyebrow twitch.

“Arthur it’s moi Francis your amie.” Arthurs left eyebrow twitched again when he heard the Frenchman laugh at the other end of the line. “What is so important that you’re calling me in the middle of the night?”

“I came by to pay a visit and found your office and home all to empty for my taste, and that cute maid you hired told me that you’d set of to America in such a hurry.” Arthur cursed on the inside and tried to figure out a way to make France disinterested in what was going on when he saw that a police officer was wandering around his car making notes. Fuck “Not now Francis, some other time.” Arthur hung up and rushed out the door to his car leaving his cell phone on the table. The police officer stopped in his tracks and looked at Arthur with stern eyes. “Is there problem officer?” Arthur asked as he opened the door to his car. “No nothing.” The police said. “I was just surprised to see people out here in the middle of the night.” He reached out his hand. “Officer Ludwig.” Arthur looked at the hand for a moment. “Arthur Kirkland” He said and shook his hand. Officer Ludwig corrected his hat and walked over to his motorcycle before Arthur realized something. “Excuse me Officer. But do you know the fastest way to get to Silent Hill?” The officer stopped dead in his tracks and looked over his shoulder and looked Arthur up and down as if he was considering something. “The road is closed these days.” He said after some silence. “But if you follow the highway for about twenty minutes there is a turnoff to the left.”

“Thank you Officer.” Arthur said and was about to seat himself in the car when he heard the police yell from his motorbike a few meters away. “The sign has been removed so keep check on the time.” Arthur nodded in response and shut the door.
After twenty minutes on the highway Arthur and made a turns of where Ludwig had suggest him to. So much can change in ten years. I don’t remember this road being here. He drove up the path until he saw an old almost unreadable sign saying “Silent Hill 10” And some things that should change really isn’t paid attention to. He was grumbling to himself when the lights of his car lit up the form of a child passing over the road. Arthur pushed down the breaks and quickly turned off the road only to find himself driving strait down a ditch and hit his head.

Don’t know if this is what OP wanted but it’s a start. Sorry for any possible grammar mistake or any mistakes in my attempt to write French.

Chapter 2 anonymous June 12 2009, 00:07:00 UTC
Ludwig saw the car drive off into the darkness. It was almost a year ago since someone asked for directions to Silent Hill He thought back of the incident a year ago. “Officer. The young man before forgot his cell phone.” The sleepy cashier came out before locking the place up and handed over the cell phone to Ludwig. I suppose its fate telling him to go after him. Ludwig thought to himself and took the cell phone. At the same moment the phone called. Ludwig answered, considering that it was his duty to inform the caller that the owner wasn’t around.
“Merdé Arthur! Do not hang up on your ami like that!” Ludwig found himself rather dumbfounded at first but got his wits back.
“This is Officer Ludwig speaking. I can inform you that Arthur Kirkland has lost is phone, but that I intend to return it to him.” A few seconds of silence passed.
“Oui officer I understand. Since you were so kind to introduce yourself my name is Francis. Glad to make acquaintance with you.”
“The same to you sir.” Ludwig responded feeling a bit uneasy with the soft tone the man on the phone was using. “Well you do not have to worry I will return the phone to your friend.” Ludwig nodded and then felt a feeling of relief that he’d accomplished his duties so smoothly.
“Officer?” Francis asked. “Yes sir?” Ludwig responded. “Where did you say Mr Kirkland was heading?”

Arthur blinked. He blinked a second time and started looking around the driver seat. His vision was dizzy but he could make out that he was still sitting in the driver seat of his car. He looked out his window and saw a thick layer of fog outside the car. Just like home. God forsaken weather! He turned the car keys and heard the engine start for a second but then dying. Arthur crumbled and cursed silently to himself Stupid bloody car from hell. He tried starting it again. Fucking car from stupid , freezing fucking Russian hell!! In conclusion, the car refused to start. Arthur tried to calm himself down after a minor burst of rage. He leaned over the steering wheel letting his chin rest on his elbows. In front of him were the ditch and the forest. Behind him was the road. He looked out the right seat window and saw to his surprise a pair of feet climb up the end of the ditch. He looked straight up and saw the back of a blond boy disappear into the forest. That can't be! He quickly got out of the car and started climbing up the steep ditch. “Hey you stop!” He managed to crawl up the ditch but all he heard was the sound of running footsteps in the distance. “Alfred!?” There was no response. Just fucking lovely Arthur thought for himself and started running.

Chapter 3 anonymous June 14 2009, 20:26:15 UTC
Damn fog. Can’t see shit but a few meters before me. Arthur ran as straight as was possible in a forest covered in fog until he found himself on a small path. Well the sign said it still was a bit to go to reach Silent Hill. Arthur started walking in the direction that should lead him towards the town. Who was that boy? A local I suppose, maybe Alfreds little brother. Or maybe even his kid. Arthur felt a lump in his throat when he thought about Alfred getting so far ahead of him, even if settling down and having a family was far down on Arthur’s list of things to do. After a few minutes Arthur admitted that he had completely lost sight of the kid. After another minute he found himself by a open rusty gate, on the gate hung a sign that read “Cemetery.” Arthur stepped in and started walking around looking for the way out. Then suddenly he felt that he stumbled over something and almost dropped his balance. “Ah I’m sorry!” Arthur looked down and saw that he’d almost tripped over a person standing all four on the ground and looking closer at one of the graves. The man stood up and brushed grass of his jeans. “No I’m the one that should apologies.” Arthur filled in remembering his gentleman behavior. “Excuse me but do you know the way to Silent Hill? This fuc- This annoying fog is too thick I’ve lost my way.”
The man corrected his glasses only to look over them to see Arthurs face. “It’s not far from here. Just the strait path, just don’t turn to any of the side paths and you should be fine. But I wouldn’t recommend going there. “ He gave Arthur a worried expression. Arthur shrugged of the warning. “That does not matter. I’m just having quick business in the town.” The man picked up a white teddy bear from the ground and held it close as if he looked to it for comfort. This made Arthur realize that the man, even though taller than him, was most certainly younger and as a matter of fact he had the same expression as a lost child. “Are you lost?” He asked to break to uncomfortable silence that had fallen between them. The man shook his head. “Just visiting some relatives.” He scraped his foot against the ground. “Guess it’s a bit hard now.” Arthur sighed ” I’ll keep an eye open for your relatives. What was your name again?” The man clenched the teddy in his arms. “Matthew Williams.” Williams. Fairly common name… Arthur put a mental note in his mind. “I’m Kirkland. Arthur Kirkland.” He greeted Matthew shortly, who only gave a small nod in response. “And that marks the end of our conversation since I really need to be going now.” Arthur said and had a look at his wristwatch and raised an eyebrow. Something isn’t right here. How can my watch say quarter past six? The digital clock on the car said 11.45 before I turned off the road and the car crashed. “Anything the matter?” Matthew asked with a worried tone. Arthur shook his head. “I must be going now mr Williams, I might be late.” And after that he hurried away with quick steps leaving Matthew on the cemetery.

Ludwig got on his motorcycle and set off after the car. He couldn’t have made it far and this far out on the countryside, combined with that the man before clearly seemed like a tourist made Ludwig the more motivated to fulfill his job. Besides he’d been to Silent Hill before, there wasn’t much to see now, hadn’t been much to see there for years. But he knew that some tourists were just too difficult to understand. He followed the highway until he made it to the turnoff. Seems our tourist must have broken the speed limit getting this far this quickly…This isn’t autoban*… Ludwig pondered to himself and started setting after at a higher speed and turned on the blue lights.

* A highway that goes through Germany, recommended speed is 130 km/h and there is no speedlimit.

Chapter 4 anonymous June 17 2009, 20:19:27 UTC
Arthur exited the cemetery and continued down the forest path that quickly turned wider and into a more proper road. He passed a few smaller paths. One leading towards the lake and the other leading towards a farm, if one should believe an old sign pointing in that direction. The forest was dead silent and in exception from an old car Arthur encountered nothing of interest until he made it to a small entrance sigh that red “Welcome to Silent Hill.” The fog was still lying heavy over the entire town and as Arthur passed the entrance and entered the street he found it surprisingly empty. The street was familiar. Nathan Avenue was it? Arthur pondered as he tried to remember the name. Nathan Avenue was a rather large street, and he only needed to follow it until he reached the park by the lake. He hurried his steps. Maybe the street was empty but it wasn’t such a strange coincidence, in the letter Alfred had said that he’d be waiting at their special place. He must have meant the park where they used to play so often. But we grew up here together. In theory this entire town should be our special place since we’ve made all of our memories here. He continued to walk down Nathan Avenue until he came to the intersection to Lindsey Street.
He stopped and stared. Blood. There was a big pile of clattered blood on the ground, and the traces showed that this bleeding person, whoever it was, had been staggering away from this place. What have happened here? Arthur felt a sudden feeling of anxiousness rise in his gut, and he didn’t like it. He followed the traces of blood that led him down the street. The traces continued down the street but Arthur abruptly stopped when he heard a sound. It was the sound of white noise. It was the same sound that would come from the TV when he’d wake up in the middle of the night realizing he’d fallen asleep in front of it while doing late night paper work at home.
He approached the sound carefully and picked up what looked like a portable radio. He shook it and gave it a suspicious look. What’s wrong with this thing? The sound grew louder and he heard a screeching sound coming from behind him. When he turned around all he saw was an empty wheelchair coming towards him through the fog, but as the wheelchair approached, the white noise on the radio grew stronger. It was moving slowly towards him and stopped a few meters in front of him. Arthur looked the empty wheelchair up and down ignoring the radio that now screamed like mad. When his eyes caught the ground he a pair of familiar legs dangle in the corner of his eyes. A pair of brown shoes and white stockings; and it made him remember something oddly out of place. I always asked Alfred why he insisted on watching horror movies late at night when he was constantly scared of ghosts and monsters. Then he looked up and the wheelchair stood empty like before. I must have been seeing things. Then he heard another sound, it sounded like a far away siren, a loud warning sound that you shout out over the town in preparation for war, he remembered that sound. He’d heard it the same day that his family decided to move away from here, he thought it was just a rehearsal to see if the only thing still worked. And then, the darkness sank in as a black cover over the town.

Honestly, Anon, you are amazing.

I'm usually just like Alfred when it comes to horror, so when I read this, my stomach twisted and I had to stop and look at something not so scary to calm myself before I continued reading! And I, rofl, give you kudos for managing to scare me like that. ;____;

But fjkgjkdfl. J-Just. GOD. I can't wait for Part 5 now! Things are unfolding and getting creepier, but, that's how this story is, and fgjkdjgld just. Anon I LOVE YOU.

Chapter 5 anonymous June 19 2009, 00:08:50 UTC
Francis hung up the phone and leaned back into his sofa. He looked up at the wooden roof and reached out for a glass of red wine only a meter away. Arthur is always so spontaneous. He says he always thinks thing through. Francis chuckled to himself. Certain he couldn’t blame Arthur too much; he himself could be very spontaneous when it came to a handsome man or woman over a glass of wine and fine dinner. But things like this, travel across the continent for no apparent reason, no Francis would never do something so absurd. He leaves the office for his parents’ home and endless vineyards for a week or two, and Arthur decided to do something outrageous.
I could bet a chateau on that it’s involving that unicorn he insisted that he saw when he was younger. He got up from the couch and looked outside. London had terrible weather he got this backache every time he thought about how Arthur had convinced them to have the office in boring London rather than beautiful Paris. He stretched and walked over to the mirror to fix his hair and face. The officer had been kind enough to specify where Arthur was heading, and Francis admitted to himself that the place gave him a bad feeling. He shivered at the thought that after all of these years Arthur might be rubbing off on him. But he laughed it off with the thought that if there was anything Arthur needed it was Francis rubbing off on him. He dragged on his clear blue raincoat; that looked more like something taken out of an avant-garde fashion show then a raincoat and then headed out in the rain to find his spontaneous friend-and-rival.

Ludwig woke up and felt a bit dizzy. He got up from the ground where he was lying and saw his motorcycle lie a bit away from him. He went over and pushed his bike up. Is this really Silent Hill? Ludwig looked around. It was in the middle of the night before, but he was close to running into a kid before since he had been chasing that mad tourist so he must have knocked his head, since this fog covered path was not what he remembered from before. He locked his bike and started following the road towards the town. He was almost starting to wonder if he’d gotten lost when he finally saw something he recognized. It was that tourist’s car, wrecked in the ditch beside the road. The car didn’t only look like it’d been driven badly, but also like it had been through a minor hell. It was buckled all over and almost all of the windows had been smashed. When Ludwig walked closer he saw to his relief that the car was empty, but that the front seat had been ripped and torn, as if someone had been digging in it with claws.
Then he thought that he heard a growling sound from above. When he looked up he saw what he first thought was a smaller bear. But it was to black, its legs were too skinny and its mouth was too wide. It stared Ludwig down with white pupil less eyes, like two white holes in all of the black. It didn’t move, it just stood there blocking Ludwigs path to the forest. Ludwig carefully tried to move for one of his guns without breaking eye contact with the beast. He started backing; the beast didn’t move and just stood there with its open jaw filled with large hook bent fangs. It just stood there, and guarded the path towards the forest. Ludwig continued to back up on the street, now managing to find his gun and the moment he clenched his fists around it the beast leaped towards Ludwig at an amazing speed Feliciano, was it a creature like this you encountered I can’t blame you for wanting to run away. Ludwig thought and at the same time squeezed of a well placed bullet piercing the beast between its eyes and it fell down as if someone had cut of its string. What on earth is going on here?
