“I can take them out if you like,” Yong-soo offers. “It’s not that hard. Or- I can make you something else.”
“No-! No! You made this for me so I’m going to eat it! I’m going enjoy it- because you went through all this trouble!”
Yong-soo blinks a little and smiles. “It’s nothing, Feli. It’s really nothing at all.” He pats Feliciano on the head. “It’s for everyone else too.”
He mentions, idly, “Noodles mean long life.”
Feliciano gives him a confused look as he tilts his head. “Really?”
Yong-soo nods. “We eat them on birthdays. You know… they also originated in Korea!” he adds quite cheerfully.
“Did they?” This time, the look turns doubtful.
South Korea gives a half-shrug back and says, “All right- from China then. But you got them from us.” He grins. “They originated from Asia!”
“Ve-” North Italy isn’t quite sure of how to respond to that but he smiles and nods because it seems the right thing to do.
The two of them putter around the kitchen though it is mostly Yong-soo who is cooking, cracking eggs into the soup and stirring it around vigorously, and letting the egg cook into long wispy threads of white and yellow suspended in the soup. Long life, was it? But Italy has already lived for a quite long time. Does he dare think about several hundred more years?
