It was the girl that spoke next. “This is Germany, my brother up there finishing off those oafs is Japan, and I am Taiwan. Thank you for coming to my aid.” She spoke with an air of dignity, but it was obvious she was having to work at it. In fact she seemed more annoyed then anything else. Canada wondered if it was bad form to rescue a girl these days but quickly dismissed the idea s utter nonsense. Taiwan couldn’t possibly be angry with him. It was probably that she had to be saved by him - she looked the independent type - but it was most definitely not Canada she was angry with.
As Italy finished his work Canada nodded to the two. “I’m glad you’re alright.”
Taiwan only gave him a curt nod.
“Yes, thank you for rescuing Taiwan. If we had known the other side was easier to scale we could have gone that rout. But as we are travelers I am no familiar with this area. Thank you for your expertise.” If Taiwan had seemed angry, this man was furious. It might have been that he just had a harsh way of speaking that Canada was unfamiliar with. Without realizing it Canada was flinching from the exchange and muttered a muted “welcome” rather quickly.
“Don’t worry! Germany may look scary, and he had a very scary way of talking, and sometimes he says things that are very scary, but he’s actually really nice.”
Canada was convinced of what Italy said as Germany blushed and yelled at the brunet.
“I’m Italy! Its nice to meet you Canada!! You’re foot will be find to walk on in a few hours, make sure that you don’t put much pressure on it till then.” Canada offered Italy a thankful smile and a nod as the brunet bounded back over to Germany and Taiwan.
“You guys aren’t hurt anywhere, right?”

America wasn’t exactly sure what he thought of the swordsman he faced as the last of the bandits fell. He had dark hair, with a curved sword the like of which America had only seen a few times in the arena. But perhaps the striking thing about the man was the excess amount of blood that covered him, and the cold impassive eyes that was seemed to strongly contrast against his pale skin.
Those eyes surveyed the scene before turning to the mercenary. America offered his trademark grin to the other and offered a hand sweaty and bloody hand to the other in the way of a greeting.
“America, at your service! Saving lovely damsels and carving up bandits is what I do best!”
The man seemed confused at that, and stared at America for a moment before closing his eyes and letting a small smile play across his lips. His eyes opened again and a hand was strongly gripping America’s.
“It is a pleasure America-san, I am Japan. I thank you for your assistance in saving my sister.”
“You’d best thank Canada for that, he went in there and yanked her from the nasty’s nest. I just did clean up if ya know what I mean.”
Japan shook his head “Your help was instrumental. If they had been able to pursue the cavalier in his retreat my sister would have been put in danger.”
America’s grin got wider.
“Well I am pretty awesome and heroic if I do say so myself! It’s good to meet you to Japan! Now let’s head down and meet up with the others.”
Japan nodded in reply and the two headed down the peaks.

“15,000 gold.”
“That’s outrageous!” Taiwan yelled, her womanly features scrunched into a threatening glare that was definitely not deterring France in the least.
“Its only because your life is worth so much to us that we be compensated accordingly.” France replied eloquently, offering the young woman his most alluring smile. Taiwan was not amused.
“We don’t need to take this! Let’s go!” The angry woman swiftly turned on her heals and left the small house, but none of her companions made to follow her.
“I am afraid that price is out of our me-“
“We can pay it! Can’t we Germany!?” The happy Italian stated, cutting off Japan in the middle of what he was going to say. If Japan was annoyed by that he didn’t look it.
“No, we can’t.” Germany promptly responded. “We don’t have that kind of money to be wasting.”

“How many times do I have to tell you no!” Germany finally hollered, effectively shutting up Italy.
“That’s all well and good, but how do you intend to compensate us for our hard labor. Both Canada and America were injured in the battle. Their very lives where put in danger to save your fair maiden and you will not even pay the required price.”
“Excuse me France-san, but I believe it was America and Canada that assisted in the retrieval of my sister. I would like to speak with them about payment.”
“They’re busy. I help handle their affairs.”
“I’m sure they would understand if we asked them personally how much they would like to be paid.” Germany stated, his voice firm. He’d known he didn’t like this man when they met….
“I am sorry, they have other things to attend to at the moment.”
“It would seem that between us and France-san we can not come to an agreement.”
“I have a suggestion…” Italy said quietly, not wanting to be yelled at again. All eyes turned to the small brunet, urging him to speak.
“Well you see France, I’m on a pilgrimage for my training. I’ve got one more stop until I can return to Roma. If you’d like you can come with us, and when we get to Roma I can pay you. My daddy has lots of money, so it wouldn’t be a problem!”
“Definitely not! We are not paying this man a cent over 500 gol-“
“Deal” Germany halted his angry shouts at Italy instantly and turned to France. It was obvious that no one - except for Italy of coarse - had expected France to take the offer. But there he was, sitting at his own table, legs crossed with an accomplished look on his face.
“No way. You are not coming with us! You’re dead weight as it is, America and Canada I could tolerate but you ar-“
“America and Canada will be accompanying me. I’m sure you could use the extra support in case your pretty lass ever gets wisped away again.”
“Germany-san, it might be in our best interest to take France-san up on this proposition. There have been disturbing rumors regarding Roma circulating recently that are hard to ignore. If unfavorable events are to take place, I would much rather be prepared. If nothing transpires that would require their assistance we can come to an agreement about the proper amount of payment once we have reached Roma.”
Germany turned to Japan and considered what he had said for a moment. After deep consideration Germany nodded.
“You may come with us to Roma. But make no mistake thief; if I find any of my possessions missing I will wring your scrawny neck with my bare hands.” France gave a mock look of shock, “What abrute!! I would never steal your effects.”
“I thank you for being so understanding about our position France-san. I look forward to working with you in the future.”
France offered a suave smile and rose from his chair.
“If you will excuse me I must go inform my boys and prepare for our departure. We will sleep here tonight. I am sure you gentlemen would enjoy a nice soft bed to sleep in for the eve.”
“Yay!! I’m glad that we’ve all come to an agreement!! I’ll go with you France!!”
“Thank you for your patronage France-san. We are most appreciative.” Japan bowed deeply and France offered a slight bow in response before moving to the door, Italy following as the two exited the small house.
“Are you sure this is a good idea Japan? That man is a rat if I ever saw one.”
“I understand your concerns Germany-san, he is not of ideal moral character. Notwithstanding, he is the man responsible for the safe return of my sister. Her life is invaluable to me. I wish to adequately compensate the three of them. There is also the matter of Roma to deal with. If rumors prove valid Italy-san will be in danger, and I fear we will not be up to the task of defending him. Someone of France-san’s abilities might be of use in such a scenario.”
Germany nodded slightly.
“As usual, you make a fair point. Let us hope that we don’t come to regret this decision."
Japan nodded in response.
---
“What do you mean we’re going to Roma!?! We’ve settled here France, I most certainly don’t want to uproot our lives...again.” France frowned, he’d known that Canada would be hard to convince.

“But if we leave here we might be able to find England. He could be looking for us out there and because we’re in the remote village he can’t find us.” America responded quickly.
“If he’s looking for us then we should stay put. What if he comes here when we leave? Then what? No, he’s much more likely to find us if we stay here. Going to find him ourselves isn’t a valid excuse to give up everything we’ve worked for!”
“So you aren’t willing to even try looking for him! What an ungrateful wretch you are!”
“Don’t talk to me about being ungrateful! You’re the one that was always messing everything up and making everyone’s life difficult! We don’t even know if England’s still aliv-“
“Don’t you dare say it.” The tone of America’s voice was bloodthirsty, and if it had been anyone else Canada would have stopped there. But this was America, they where siblings.
“Don’t deny reality, we haven’t heard anything from him in four years. If England could come back he already would have!”
“He hasn’t been able to find us, it isn't surprising, this place isn’t even on some maps!”
“You know that’s folly, he’s dead and you need to get over it!”
“No He ISN’T”
America was moving towards Canada now, his hand moving swiftly to his younger brother’s throat. France - who was still amazed that they where arguing so violently - rapidly jumped between the two, one hand on both boys.
“Silence!! Amérique, I know you don’t want to think about it but it is possible that Angleterre is dead. If you don’t except that fact then it will hurt all the more if we are unable to find him. Canada, I know you have made this place your home, I feel bad about uprooting us now, but this might be our only chance.”
There was silence as the two calmed. After a good five minutes of silence France felt comfortable continuing.
“You have not been told, but right after the event there was news of England being taken to Roma. That information has since dried up, but if there is rumor of England, Roma is our best chance.”
The two gaped at France, before both becoming visibly upset.
“Why did you say nothing! Why did you do nothing! If we had known shortly after there where things we could have done!” America face was scrunched up in anger as he screamed at France. Canada’s gaze was only a little less forgiving, but his tone remained soft and threatening.
“We asked you every day for news of him. We cried and wept and worried for his safety and you did nothing to ease our pain. Not even an utterance of what was really going on.”
“You where to young to und-“
“We were not then and we are not now. Why should we trust you now, when you could not even trust us enough to tell us England was alive.”
America could scare and frighten, and terrify, but it was only Canada that could give France the fear of God.
With as much confidence a France could muster he responded quietly, “Because I am the one with information. Without me you have nothing to go on. Intelligence is my trade, the withholding of it, and the deployment of it. Let me use it to our advantage. Trust me when I say it was not wise to venture far four years ago.”
America was still visibly angry, and he scoffed at France with outright disgust. Canada was also still obviously upset, but he nodded silently in response.
“We depart in the morrow.” Canada stated simply before moving in the direction of the coral. America was soon to follow, then France was alone.

Thankyou so much for this fill. I'm totally F5ing for the next chapter!
It is good to hear from you OP! This Writer!anon was a little worried that OP would not enjoy having to wait for the Russia/Canada bits that will be in the main story. If OP is not pleased with the amount of Russia/Canada that Writer!anon can get in there, Writer!anon is willing to do the support for the pleasure of the OP!
This Writer!anon aims to please, so let her know what you would like!
Fire Emblem games are never known for their stories, despite that Writer!anon is trying to keep it interesting! She is very happy OP is enjoying it!
This Writer!anon is also huge fan of stats, when she heard this request it was the first thing she had to do!!
Writer!anon apologies for the long response, and would like to say that the stalking hints given by the OP where very helpful, though not directed at this Writer!anon
