In the garden, Canada and England stood by the door. Canada wondered what was wrong. The garden looked fine. He turned to England for answers. “England…” he began when the older suddenly cupped his hands around his mouth and yelled. “Alfred!!” he yelled. A soft rustling came from the bushes and a child popped out grinning with a small blue bird on top of his head. The kid ran towards England wrapping his arms around the Brit.
“Arthur! Look! I made a friend!” the child said pointing to the bird on top of his head. England smiled telling the boy something. The child giggled. Canada looked confused. He reached out his hand and tapped England’s shoulder. England turned his head facing Canada. “England, who’s that?” he asked pointing to the child who seemed to finally notice Canada. England stopped smiling for a moment. He hesitated for a moment before answering. “This is America.” said England seriously. Canada laughed.
“Come on England. That’s not America!” he said smiling, “America’s older and taller and bigger than that child. Sure he may look like him but that’s not him.
England shot him a look as if saying its true dimwit. Canada looked closer at the boy, now face to face. Canada blinked. The child blinked. Canada blinked once more. Realization hitting him. His eyes widened. He turned to England with a look of panic on his face.
“OH MY GOSH, ENGLAND! WHY IS MY BROTHER LIKE THIS?! DID YOU DO MAGIC ON HIM?! DID RUSSIA CURSE HIM!?” he panicked clutching his face. Alfred whimpered a little getting scared of Canada’s panicking. He hid behind England and clung to his shirt. England whacked Canada on the back of his head.
“Get a hold of yourself, Matthew!” he scolded as he tried to soothe Alfred’s fright. “Take a deep breathe.” commanded England. Canada obliged and was now much more calm but still panicked.
“What happened England?” he asked looking at Alfred. Alfred still hid behind England. England sighed. “Let’s go inside and have a cup of tea and I’ll explain everything.”
