This has not been a pleasant meeting.
Liechtenstein is typically able to ignore the accusations hurled her way; she is secure in her economic background. To be quite frank, it’s all the 162km2 micro nation has to compete with the rest of the world. So what if it’s dubious-secrecy has never been a bad thing. If someone decided to dodge taxes through her banks, that’d speak more for the dodger’s country than it would for her system.
No, she will not aid other countries in tracking down other dodgers. People come to her seeking secrecy, and as a matter of fact, because of the situation at hand, she was going to be increasing the security around her banks.
Hitting a stalemate, Germany grudgingly calls for a recess. It is ten minutes into the hour-long break when Switzerland finds Liechtenstein still sitting in the meeting room, leaning back in her chair and pinching the bridge of her nose. “Liechtenstein.” He says. Her hand falls from her face as turns to look at turns to look at him, smiling warmly.
“Hoi, Switzerland,” she greets softly, rising to meet him. “How was your meeting?”
“Late, but done,” Switzerland says, trying to ignore the recent memory of an economic discussion between a hungry Italy and America, which, of course, less resembled a discussion and more the reading of a menu. A bad menu.
Liechtenstein reaches to take Switzerland’s coat and briefcase; a doting, domestic motion that Switzerland has never felt the urge to decline. He watches as she drapes the coat over the back of a chair and laying the briefcase against the leg of the same chair. He gaze turns scrutinizing, noting the stiff set of her shoulders. After a moment, Switzerland shuts the door behind him, flicking the lock before stepping towards her.
