Something so Incredibly Useful (1/1)

"Don't be scared. It is fine." The french was spoken perfectly and the voice was calm and reassuring, but the dark skinned girl still backed away.
"No!" She backed away from the two countries, she couldn't believe they were going to do this to her! "I won't!" She stumbled backwards desperately, and shouted the words in English for extra measure, "I won't let you!"
The other country stalked forwards irritably. It seemed that Arthur wasn't in the mood to be nearly as forgiving as Francis. He glared at her with vibrant green eyes, the...thing still in his hands, "Stop being such a petulant child, Seychelles." Even though she kept shaking her head violently the small man didn't stop, his gigantic eyebrows furrowing together in annoyance, "You're the one who said you wanted to be a full fledged country. It's not all rainbows and butterflies, sometimes we make sacrifices."
"He is right, my dear." Francis smiled comfortingly at her from behind the Englishman, "And this is necessary. You wouldn't believe how many wars we averted once I could actually understand Arthur and Antonio. You need to do this."
"No! You want to put a...a fish in ear!" She shrieked the words and pointed to the wriggling little yellow fish Arthur's hand held, "I won't let you! It will kill me! It will eat my brain! I won't! I won't!"
"Damn it," England was now perilously close, "What's she saying Francis?"
The tall Frenchman sighed, "She thinks it will eat her brain." Once again Francis was smiling endearingly at her, "It won't eat your brain darling. It's a Babel Fish they don't eat your brain or hurt you. They just translate languages for you. You would always know what people were saying around you. Wouldn't you like to know what Uncle Antonio is saying to you? Or why Uncle Ludwig yells at you? He wouldn't as scary if you really knew what he was saying."
It was a tempting prospect, Germany was really, really scary. But a fish in her ear? But she was really sick of not knowing what everyone around her was saying. Even the English speaking countries would use words and she wouldn't understand them because they weren't native to her country. She couldn't even understand Francis' quiet son's weird French (she couldn't remember his name at the moment). But a fish in her ear?
As it turned out she didn't have a choice as her moment of indecision had allowed Arthur to sneak up on her and slap the creepy brain fish into her ear.
She shrieked as loudly as she could but unfortunately, or fortunately as she would concede later, it didn't kill the freaky thing.
A/N - lol only funny if you've read a Hitch hikers guide to the universe I guess?? If you haven't then look up the Babel fish. It basically allows you to understand any language when inserted into your ear, although you still speak your native tongue. The title is a reference to what the guide says about the Bable Fish "something so incredibly useful there is no way it could have evolved by natural means" XD Also all parts in italics are spoken in French. I don't know much French so I did it thins way, I'm sorry!
Quick fill is quick D: Hopefully someone else takes up your offer? I was just inspired anon!
Author fails! Arthur shouldn't have asked what she said...I'm sorry! I forgot! Just pretend that...err...that part didn't happen or that in Hetalia!verse both parties require a babel fish in order to know what the other is saying.
...all of a sudden, I want to see France and England get into a war with each other because they can't quite understand their language and then have sex.

Yay for Babel Fish! Not every day you find a creature that provides free translations *and* final and clinching proof of the non-existence of God XD Though I'd imagine it would feel kind of weird actually having it go in your ear ^^;;

And: You wouldn't believe how many wars we averted once I could actually understand Arthur and Antonio.
Pfft, like you guys didn't get into enough wars with each other anyway. :D (Ha, or were those wars cause by the lack of communication?)
And I feel for you Seychelles. I wouldn't want it in my ear either but I would be sorely tempted.
