The wind was starting to pick up. Matilda retreated back into her room momentarily to fetch a cardigan. Al couldn't help thinking that his jacket would keep her warmer, especially if he was stil in it. "By showing him what trust looks like, instead of sneaking around behind his back. Or putting on a lot of leather and disappearing with the good silver."

Al's brain was frantically assembling this new information into a shape that he could grok. "So....if I get him to trust you. Would I be your hero?"

Matilda's sigh this time was shorter and more amused. "No heros here, Al, but you'd be my boyfriend. Is that enough?"

Boyfriend. He could live with boyfriend. "But will you still call me one in bed?"

"...I'm going back to sleep now, Al."

"NO WAIT, MATTIE! I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO TALK TO YOUR DAD!!" There was an embarrassing bit of arm-flailing that accompanied this.

"Really, it's not that complicated. I'll tell him there's someone I want him to meet over a nice cup of tea. You show up promptly at six on Thursday--and scrape the mud out of your boots before then, please--I introduce you to him, and we all sip tea in awkward silence."

"...that sounds horrible."

"Oh it is. Want to back out?"

"NEVER."

"Well then." Then she smiled at him, actually smiled, and for a few minutes he thought there had been some sort of cosmic collision it seemed so bright. "I really do need to go back to sleep. You should too."

Alfred made pitiful eyes that would have put every golden retriever puppy ever born to shame. "Kiss me goodnight?"

At those eyees, Mathilda's resolve melted so fast it dripped. "Well alright then." She let her head hang over the windowsill as he went up on tiptoes to press their lips together.

It was hot and sweet and she tasted like clove toothpaste and then in trying to slip the tongue in he lost his balance and wound on his butt on the cold hard ground. "Okay," he muttered, "So that was a pretty clear sign not to have depraved carnal relations tonight."

"Depraved, eh?" Mathilda's smile had taken on a new quality above him as she pulled the sash down. "We'll have to see about that."

It was deleted because they de-anoned, as you can tell from their comment. They were either too lazy, too ignorant of the meme's rules, or too ignorant about LJ to repost it anonymously.
