Pain and Toris were not strangers to each other, not by far. For the past nine-hundred odd years, Toris had seen his lands ravaged by war and invasion, and was there to fight it.
But this, this was a different issue. Waking up in a beige bathrobe that looked and smelled increasing like the jacket that Ivan donned (gunpowder, smoke, blood) and being strapped to a chair was reminiscent of days of the KGB. Walls a shoddy gray, three blinding white lights illuminated the room and yet provided very little light at all except on himself, the wooden office chair with fresh towels to his left, and a table to his right. He struggled against his restraints, head down and not noticing his captor until he saw a shift in the shadows.
"Is it safe?"
Ah, how could he have missed the hint of vodka that drifted in the air.
"What is?" Toris asked, peering at the man. The man's face broke into a smile and a laugh escaped his lips.
"Do they teach you to answer questions with a question in grammar school, Toris?" Ivan asked, contradicting his own statement as he advanced towards the seat. A gloved finger traced, lightly, down Toris' chest where the thick robe did not reach.
This time, the voice was dulled down to a whisper, light, like the touch, but nevertheless dangerous and venomnous. Violet eyes, washed near-white by the lights in the room, grew heavy, serious.
"Is it safe?"
"I need to know what 'it' is, Ivan," Toris answered, not even entirely sure of trying to reason with Ivan was even logical. One reasoned with another person with reason; one tried to tame a neglected dog that still wagged its tail. This one, no, this was a rabid dog. A rabid dog that was now laughing again, bubbling laughter. Wood creaked and groaned under Ivan's weight as he climbed onto the chair with Toris, snuggling into the space that Toris did not occupy, now transforming from a rabid dog into some sort of content housecat. His hand was on Toris' skin again, and the coarse sensation from the fatigued leather gloves was hot, like it was applying so much friction to him. The hand crawled up his chest to trace along his exposed collarbone, his jawline, and finally stopped and hovered just by his cheek. There was a scientific fact somewhere that only cats were capable of purring, but that scientist has obviously never met Ivan.
Being in such close proximity seemed to hyperbolize the shower of heat from the light, and yet Ivan's hot breath next to his ear sent a chill down his spine.

"Is it safe?" came the question again as arms wound around his neck, hands gripped his back. Toris struggled to see Ivan, see his face, try to even read what vast emptiness was behind those pupils. But feeling the man's cheek pressing against his proved to make this task impossible. Ivan sighed on top of him, heavy and disappointed. A turn of his head, and he rubbed the tip of his nose against Toris', not unlike an animal or a lover. A kiss followed that--no, rather--two kisses. The first one, chaste, a flicker of a kiss, like those seen in teen movies, then grew into something else. Something where Ivan first nibbled on Toris' bottom lip, then coaxed that small mouth open with a soft lick, slipping in, his weight shifting on the chair, causing it to titter and groan at the same time, an audience forced to laugh at a bad comedy. It threatened to topple over, but Ivan's foot scraped along the floor to keep it steady while Toris' bound wrists turned reflexively. Whether it was to try and flail for balance or to escape again, he wasn't too sure himself. A tongue ran along his teeth. And then, just like that, Ivan stood up again, much to the relief of the chair. Yet, he leaned down to give another kiss--chaste, again.
Then, for the first time, Toris noticed that the table next to him was not empty. Or maybe it was, and all the instruments he see now just suddenly manifested. Ivan's hand reached for one of them, and while it was hard to decipher what it was under the lights, Toris still shuddered.
"Maybe I should ask Edward," Ivan suggested, smiling. "Or Raivis." His words were sighs now, not so much speaking as he was breathing with laboured intonations of his voice. "Or maybe even Feliks."
"No!" Toris screamed. The leather restraints squeaked and he would have leapt out of his chair if not for them. "I'll tell you! It's safe, it's very safe!"
Ivan blinked, toying with the tool in his hands as he smiled again. Ah, that smile--it wasn't empty, far from it. It was just layered. Child-like, innocent, white, pristine, poisonous, cruel. Then, it vanished.
"Is it safe?"
What that answer unsatisfactory?
"N-no, it isn't..." Toris answered. "It's dangerous. It's ...very dangerous...you better watch--"
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw red. There was a spot of red that seeped through the heavy beige uniform coat that Ivan wore, just under the star and ribbon on his chest. It looked as though the star was bleeding.
With one hand, Ivan unfastened his coat and Toris saw what was there underneath--or rather, what wasn't. A large, gaping hole that was just as barren as the depths of Ivan's eyes stared back at him, crying a trail of red.
With his other hand, Ivan switched on the device that was in his right hand. The whir of the drill drowned out his voice as he advanced towards Toris, smile returning.
"Is it safe...?"
"Russia..."

Not OP, but that was...wow, really chilling. (Well, then again, one could argue anything with Russia is chilling, lol). No seriously, though, that was great. I particularly love the imagery you wove into there...the bleeding star, 'crying a trail of red'. AWEsome <3
You are most certainly NOT bad at writing!
Please, keep up the great work! You've got a fan here! :)

Thank you so much for reading and commenting on this, I thought no one read it, or if they did, thought it was an absolute waste of time and didn't want to waste anymore on writing a comment for it.
So it makes me extremely happy that you not only read it but also gave me such a long reply.
Thank you very much!

Anyways, like the commenter above, the writing is amazing! This fanfic actually stuck in my mind awhile after reading it, I thought it was so interesting. I don't know why I didn't review (laziness, probably), but anyways, this fanfic totally does not deserve the lack of reviews! Its great!
