This fic is made entirely of highest-grade awesome. I love how it is perfectly in-character and grounded in history, but at the same time the tone is light and the feeling I'm left with is happiness. Love that the countries have moved on yet kept their memories. Love how they're human and country at the same time (particularly the line "when relations are good and the sun's warm" - fuck yes, this is so perfect, this is precisely why I am in this fandom) - although I could have used a little more country and a little less human, to be quite honest. I love how Russia is consistent with his usual portrayal in Hetalia but at the same time isn't utterly insane, just a little different. I love how UK is prissy but gives in to Alfred and to fun eventually. I usually don't like US, but here, even he manages to be highly entertaining and kind of cute. I love the inclusiveness of your threesome (thanks so much for indulging this kink too, by the way!). And I love the memories, the historical references and the discussion of Vinni-Puh (oh yeah, minor note - if you were going for transliterated Russian, "Vinni-Puh" is closer than "Vinni Pooh"). And the whole argument over who won was plain adorable! Ah, and on second read-through I realize I forgot to mention that I love your descriptions. The warm summer day, the river and the mud are wonderfully vivid in your fic, they really resonate with me.

I'm clearly not Russian, as my transliteration fail suggests; I just poke about in Russian culture because I think it's absolutely brilliant and I'm in awe of how thoroughly the spirit (playful or deeply inspired or both) of the people shows through. And I'm tremendously grateful for your kind words. I would tell you who I am--but I can't think how to wrangle that without telling the entire kink meme. I wish I knew who you were, too. Thank you for the kind words regarding Russian culture! I'd love to hear about your Russian favourites - are you mostly in it for the literature, the films or the music? I've neglected my own culture somewhat, I could use some recs and rereading incentives.

Mostly, I'm in it for the literature; I confess, I'm mostly sticking to the classics and commentary on them, of late (Dostoevsky, Chekhov, Gogol, etc.), but I'm hoping to move on to more recent works as soon as I've got a bit more time on my hands. I'm also fascinated by Russian history, particularly 19th- and early-20th-century history.
