Giving In 2/2

His bosses meet again and again to discuss the future. As the deadline draws dangerously close, they receive a tersely-worded notice that they have twelve extra hours, which does nothing to soothe anyone involved. Lithuania just listens in on the meetings, barely even following the content any more. His attention is drawn instead to the windows, through which he can hear the chants of the populace outside.

Finally someone hands him a letter and tells him that it's the final resolution. He heads into the hallway before opening it and reading it through, the letters seeming to sear their way into his brain.

The letter clutched in his hand, Lithuania closes his eyes and tries to ignore it as his people mourn the loss of their country's heart.

"I accept."

Poland looks up from what he was doing - applying makeup, even as an adult he still has the love for beauty Lithuania remembers from their shared childhood - and puts down the lipstick tube slowly. "You do?"

Lithuania nods weakly, trembling just slightly despite his efforts to fight it. Maybe he can blame the cold. "It's... in our mutual interest. So I accept. We'll begin diplomatic relations again."

And then Poland's arms are around him - since when is Poland's embrace so cold - and Poland's lipstick is marking Lithuania's neck and despite himself Lithuania arches his neck and gasps just like he used to. But this isn't childhood any more, this is something sick and wrong, and Poland's voice is like ice when he murmurs "I knew you would come back, Liet," into Lithuania's ear.

Lithuania tries to fight it for a moment, but soon he's fumbling to pull off Poland's pants and Poland's cold hands are all over his chest and even if it's wrong he no longer cares. There are tears sliding down his cheeks as Poland starts to work his way in, and although his pulse should be rising there's only silence, but Poland doesn't care and Lithuania doesn't bother to tell him.

In the end, it's easiest to give in.

This was wonderfully historical and very chilling and just - you've broken my heart, anon. And I thought this whole issue couldn't make me any sadder than it already did. ;__;

It's so strange that I never cared about Lithuania (the nation) before Hetalia. Now I'm reading more of its history and I am totally getting where Toris' characterization comes from. What a poor, abused yet peaceful nation. It's unfair how it was treated through out history. This fic of course is amazing.
