He threw on his long coat, shivering in anticipation of the icy rain that pelted down outside. He took a quick gulp of his emergency scotch, feeling the numbing warmth run down his throat. Tucking the flask in a secret pocket he stepped outside his flat, locking it behind him as he went. Looking around quickly, he moved to the stairs. He looked behind him and there was nobody there. Sighing in relief he started down the stairs.
“Afternoon! Where are you going?”
Arthur groaned. He was so close to getting out this time. A few more steps and he’d have been out of sight completely.
For the last few days he hadn’t been able to get a moment to himself. Alfred was always there. It was getting seriously annoying. Though, knowing the man was hundreds of miles from his friends and family gave Arthur just enough patience to be polite.
“Out to get something to eat… Would you like to join me?”
The American smiled widely, and Arthur knew full well why. In the two weeks they’d known one another, this was the first time he’s invited Alfred out for anything. To be honest, Arthur wasn’t sure why he’d done it now. It wasn’t as if he liked the American or anything, the guy was the most annoying creature on God’s green earth.
“It’s a date?” He said, swaggering out of his door with an inappropriate amount of wiggle. Arthur promptly went a bright phonebox red.
“Just come on, or the shop will be shut.” He turned his back, knowing the other would follow.
