Appealing. Delectable. Jeez, he sounded like France, eying up someone like they were a piece of cake he would like to eat. Maybe he had been spending a bit too much time with him... Nah. It was just Arthur's own fault really. If he didn't make those expressions, Alfred wouldn't be thinking along those lines.

He was not sure when it had gone from 'I just like getting a reaction out of him' to 'I just like being with him'. But it had. Somewhere along the line. Not that he would ever tell Arthur that. Or anyone for that matter. So he liked spending time with the man. So what?
However he was not so sure England would see it that way. Francis definitely wouldn't. So it was the smarter thing to do to keep his mouth shut, and if anyone asked, he'd tell them the first part.
Which was not technically a lie, as heroes never lied. And he really did like annoying him.

Today had been a new step for him though. Firstly that weird phone call that Arthur claimed had just been a miss-dial, but which Alfred highly suspected that it hadn't been. Secondly, the way he had first acted when he had arrived. It hadn't seemed any different from how he usually treated Alfred, but today something had felt off. There was a strange tenseness to Arthur, one that was normally not there.

Thirdly, and most importantly, he had enjoyed what he had done to Arthur. Not just for the results he had gotten in return, though those had been great. He had actually liked holding the others hand. Kissing the others hand...
Okay, maybe it was time to admit that there was a little bit of a crush going on here.

He glanced up to find Arthur standing proudly, in a pink apron, presenting a smoking pile of... Alfred did not want to know. They looked kind of like scones, but it was hard to tell, they were jet black and far too lumpy looking. And the smell. Alfred couldn't hide the look of pure disgust when a plate of this this stuff was placed in front of him. Along with a porcelain cup filled with sweetened earl grey, of course.

"Well once again I've out done myself with my cooking. This is something even Austria wouldn't be able to top." Arthur claimed, completely sure of his culinary talent. "Go on, give it a taste." he urged, with a hint of- Was that eagerness Alfred heard in the Princess' voice? Couldn't be.

Without thinking, he took a large bite of one of the scone like creations. Regretting it instantly. It was like chewing rocks. Bitter rocks. He shuddered with the thing called food in his mouth, his eye twitching uncontrollably as he chewed and swallowed. There it was done. He wouldn't have to take another bite. Ever again.

But England had seen his reaction. "Fine!" he exclaimed, pulling the food and tea towards his end of the table and holding them close to his chest protectively. "If you don't want to eat my cooking then just fine!"

"Ah, no!" Alfred responded, trying to take the food back. Arthur had tears in his eyes and he had been the cause of them, even if the food really was that disgusting. "I do like your cooking. Really." he lied, trying to pull the plate back towards him still. Although that certainly was a lie, there were sometimes when even heroes had to be dishonest.

"No you don't! No you don't! You surely don't understand! ...don't understand....everything. I will hold back on the cooking okay, there's some pudding in the fridge. If you want it, take it, but just leave me alone!"

Alfred couldn't get over the anguish in the older mans voice. He knew he had always been a touch sensitive about his cooking, but this was taking it to a whole new level. Laughing slightly at the whole situation, and at the Princess, he reached over Arthur's shoulder and stole one clean off the plate.

"I do like them." He added for confirmation before taking a bite, a small one couldn't hurt.
Okay, maybe it was time to admit that there was more than a little bit of a crush going on.
Because he would have to feel something special for this guy, if he was willing to eat one of these awful creations of his, if it meant making him smile.
