God, the mystery is killing me... I think we'll end up finding out that both Scott and Rhys (and probably others as well) are related to Arthur but what the hell happened? How the hell did Arthur (supposing it was Arthur, I guess it COULD have been like his father or something) get away with making Rhys a slave? Did Rhys commit a crime (maybe he tried to free Annabeth and was caught?) Is he an "indentured servant"?

Sorry, I can't help my guessing. xD;

It's so... idk, so 1800's to me. This fic is pretty good generally at portraying the whole mindset difference. Really the only thing that I'm confused about is Francis insisting Rhys not calling him "sir". I wonder if he's actually against the whole class system as well and not just the slavery aspect. There's no clear mention of that but I can sort of read it between the lines. Although I guess that's not really that big of a leap. Or he might just be uncomfortable with the title when it's a slave using it because of the implications. Could be that I'm reading way too much into it.
