The part where we run away (1c/?) anonymous September 14 2012, 16:31:43 UTC
This went on for a while, Alfred asking strange and nonsensical questions to the refrigerator. Eventually, Kiku just gave up on his friend and went to poke around in the room next door. It was what looked like rec room of some kind, with a large pool table and a coffee table with a chess set painted onto the top. Once again, despite all the dust, the room wasn’t very imposing. It was significantly darker in here, though. The sun had definitely set by now, and there was only one small window in the back of this room anyways, so very little moonlight made its way in. Kiku, obligated to do his part, pulled out his own digital camera and took a few photographs of the room. Not that he actually expected to catch any ‘ghost photos’, but if he told Alfred he’d already covered this room, maybe they could just skip over it later. The sooner he could get back to his hotel room, the happier he’d be.
After flipping through the pictures and finding nothing (of course), he made his way back out to the kitchen to meet back up with Alfred.
“Whaa? I don’t believe it! Really? Are you for real? ‘Cause that’s disguting! Who’d do that to a girl!”
“…Alfred-san?”
“Huh? Oh, Kiku! Where’d you run off to?”
“…Are you talking to the refrigerator?”
“…”
“…”
“…Nope.”
“But I just heard you…”
“You left me all alone, and it’s scary being all alone in the dark and stuff, so Garry and I were just having a nice conversation…!”
“…Garry?”
“Yes. I named him Garry.”
“You named the refrigerator Garry.”
“It’s easier talking to inanimate objects when you’ve named them!”
“…Maybe we should just get going now.”
Alfred jumped up and grabbed Kiku by the wrist again, “Nooooo! We still haven’t looked upstairs! We can’t leave just because I was talking to a kitchen appliance! I haven’t been all heroic and stood up to any ghosts yet!”
Kiku sighed. He knew he couldn’t out-will Alfred of all people, and dragging him out now would only mean he’d be dragged back later to re-investigate. “Fine, yes, I guess we should be more thorough… I believe there are also a few more rooms on this floor we have yet to investigate, as well. Though I did look through the room over there,” He pointed through the door he just came out of, “and there’s nothing to note.”
Alfred straightened himself up, flashing one of his famous thousand-watt smiles. “Yeah! Let’s go check out that room across the hall!” They turned to leave when Alfred abruptly stopped and whirled around, “Bye, Garry! If you still work, I’ll see if you can be moved to my house later!”
“Alfred-san, it is a refrigerator. It cannot understand you.”
“But Kiku!” Alfred whispered, “What if Garry is possessed by a malevolent ghost or something?! I wouldn’t wanna make him mad!”
This time it was Kiku grabbing Alfred by the wrist and dragging him off.
