Fill - Underneath the Sea (1/2) anonymous December 21 2011, 13:11:13 UTC
I wrote this way back when this request first came out. Then I saw first anon brilliant fill and thought I should wait a while. A while turned out to be two months. Hope OP and everyone else likes.
Pairings are England/America, Spain/Romano, hinted Canada/Ukraine and Germany/Italy.

When the conference room was unlocked and the group of chattering nations were allowed in, the sight that greeted their eyes was not what they expected. All around them was a sea of white, the table and chairs completely smothered by pillows.

"It's like a marshmallow threw up everywhere," Canada commented to his brother, who ignored him as usual.

"It's great!" America yelled and, beside him, England winced. Whether it was at the volume or the sight of the conference room waist deep in pillows, no one knew.

"Where did they all come from?" Germany asked, for once visibly stunned as he prodded at one of the pillows. Good quality, feathered pillows. At least the person who pulled the prank didn't skimp on the materials.

"It's like a pillow factory decided to donate all it's worldly goods to this conference hall," Hungary said cheerfully to Austria as she picked up a pillow and squeezed it. Inside her mind she was calculating who she could throw it at.

"Well, we can't continue the conference like this," Germany said, affronted at the thought of having to change rooms, or reschedule. Even the thought of it sent a shiver down Germany's spine. Scores of nations loose in the city with no conferences or meetings to attend - the idea alone gave him nightmares.

"Nope," America replied happily.

"What's got you so happy?" England asked grumpily even though he had a rough idea. After America filled his house with balloons and ordered a large ball pond to be put in the basement, this must be his idea of heaven.

"We can have a pillow fight!" America said loudly and several of the nations around him turned to look at him.

"No," England said firmly and America turned to argue with him.

"I agree with England," Canada said, even though he went completely ignored. He still remembered the last pillow fight he had with America. Kumakirou still ran away whenever he saw America with a pillow in his hand. It might be why he was absent now.

"We cannot have a pillow fight," Germany barked and Veneziano next to him looked scandalised.

"But Germany, think of the pillows!"

"You are so weird," Romano said to his brother, trying to take a step away only to trip over a pillow and disappear into the white, fluffy mass.

"Romano!" Veneziano called as he looked over all the pillows surrounding him.

"I like the sound of a pillow fight," Hungary said with a manic grin. Without any further thought, she threw one pillow straight at Russia.

"PILLOW FIGHT!" Poland yelled, throwing a pillow at Russia too, before smacking Lithuania round the head with one. Estonia ducked, even though the pillow wasn't meant for him, and disappeared underneath the surface of the pillows. Soon, every nation was taking part and in the hallway, sounds of screaming and laughing could be heard.

After the attack on their brother, Ukraine and Belarus had teamed up and were chasing Hungary and Poland around the room. All of them were making slow progress due to the pillows but Ukraine had already managed to get a well-aimed shot at Poland's hair while Belarus had already exploded her pillow, covering the nearby nations with feathers. Russia had decided to sit at the edge of the room and watch his sisters chase after the other nations. He had been joined by Romano soon after, who was disgruntled that Veneziano was clinging onto Germany's shoulders and Spain had joined up with France and Prussia to fight against England and America.

"Popcorn?" Canada asked Romano, causing the Italian nation to jump. He hadn't realised that Canada had sat down.

"Sure," Romano said, helping himself to a large handful as Canada stretched his arm over Romano's head to offer Russia some. "I didn't know your sister was so vicious," Romano commented to Russia, who was merrily crunching down on his popcorn. "Ukraine, I mean, not Belarus," Romano added as if there was any doubt.

"Ukraine has always been very protective of Belarus and I. In a pillow fight, there is no chance of anyone dying or getting truly angry, so she feels free to vent her frustrations. Chocolate?" Russia drew a large chocolate bar from inside his coat and snapped off several pieces to hand out to Romano and Canada.

"She's quite amazing," Canada said quietly, not wanting Russia to hear the overly admiring tone in his voice. Ukraine leapt at Hungary and they both sank beneath the pillows. Nearby, Austria sighed and dived beneath the pillows himself.

"Is he supposed to be here?" Romano pointed to Sealand, who was been given a piggyback by Latvia over to where Ukraine and Belarus were.

"No. Maybe he brought the pillows," Russia said with a smile. Romano and Canada debated this for a minute before admitting that it could be possibly.

"Hey, can either of you two see my brother?" Canada suddenly asked and the three nations scanned the great pillow landscape. The Bad Friends Trio were now fighting each other and America was nowhere to be seen. Neither was England.

"You probably don't want to know," Romano pointed out and Canada nodded along. There were some things that he didn't want to see and he thanked the heavens that the pillows were so numerous that they concealed everything that went on below them.

Over on the far side of the conference room, Veneziano was on top of Germany's shoulders and was firing pillows at anyone that came close. Prussia, Cuba and Belgium were trying to fight back but they couldn't get close without being battered by pillows. Romano wondered why they didn't just go beneath the surface of the pillow sea, Veneziano wasn't that smart after all. Germany might be though.

"Romano!" Suddenly a nation popped up in front of the three of them, making Romano and Canada jump. Romano just about recognised it as Spain before he pulled Romano underneath the surface of the pillows. He still struggled, he had a reputation to keep up after all, but avoided the vital regions.

"We lost a man today," Canada said with mock solemnity. Russia picked up Romano's dropped piece of chocolate and started to eat it.

Very soon, Romano's spot was taken up by France. After greeting Russia happily and groping Canada, France settled down.

"Do you know where Spain is?"

"With Romano," Canada answered and France nodded. No chance of getting Spain then. England was with America somewhere in the pillow sea and nearly all the other nations were involved in a large-scale pillow fight.

"Greece is over there," Russia pointed out. France and Canada followed his finger to see Greece sleeping on top of the pillows with several cats meowing around him. Several of them kept disappearing beneath the sea of pillows and then reappearing as they used their claws to pull themselves up. This also accounted for the feathers floating in the air around Greece, which were being batted around by several cats.

"Perfect," France purred before slithering down beneath the pillows. Canada questioned what he was going to do before deciding that he didn't want to know. He turned his attention to where Norway, Iceland and Finland were fighting each other. Sweden and Denmark were nowhere to be found. Even though Iceland and Norway had teamed up against Finland, Finland seemed to be winning, sending both of them underneath the layer of pillows several times.

"You know I think this is the most fun I've had at a world meeting ever," Canada remarked casually and Russia agreed with a smile. He was very happy that he had bought all these pillows now.

Don't normally write Russia, but when I do, I can't write him as anything else apart from a big fluffy child. Also, suddenly I want to explore France/Russia and France/Greece.

I was so happy to see another fill on the list today - I've never gotten two fills before! I hardly ever get fills at all, heh.
I loved Canada, Romano, and Russia sitting on the sidelines and their commentary. And Ukraine! I was cheering her on. :) Russia buying the pillows? Icing on the cake. Very nicely done, anon.
