Wit Of The Staircase 88/?

It was about then that he realized he'd forgotten to get any new kleenxes. With Francis around, there hadn't exactly been a need for kleenxes and lotion and hidden away copies of Men's Health and GQ magazine-which he could swear were actually soft core porn for gay men.
He'd just have to take a shower and change clothes. No way he was going to sleep covered in jizz.
Matthew was wondering what to say then. The phone line was quiet. Was he supposed to thank Francis, or would that be awkward? Tabernac. He didn't have a clue at that moment.
Probably there still wasn't enough blood in his brain.
"You have one week, you say?" Francis said quietly.
"Yeah. I already did the orientation. But the guy who I'm filling for isn't leaving until then, so..."
"Then let's make it the best week of your life. A week make up for the whole summer you'll miss," Francis said gravely.
"You make it sound like I'm dying, here," Matthew said.
"Well I should hope you aren't," Francis said. "You still owe me ten dollars."
"Well, you'll have to wait until my next paycheck," Matthew said, indulging Francis. "I don't get paid until then."
"Until then, you can pay with your body," Francis said.
Matthew could just see the sort of smug, arch deliciously sexy grin he knew Francis would be doing just now. He could tell from his voice. His phone gave a little beep. He looked at the readout. The battery flashed piteously.
This was the first time he'd ever had a battery issue. He rarely made phone calls. Arthur and Al generally would just text him, or give him brief calls.
"Anyways, thanks for calling and uh, the other stuff. But my phone battery is going, so I've got to go. I really need to shower, anyways."
Francis chuckled. "Think of me, Matthieu. Bonne nuit, mon chéri."
"Yeah, I uh, will. Bonne nuit," Matthew said awkwardly.
There wasn't a chance he'd think about anyone-or anything else.
