Huh, I really liked this! I didn't expect anything quite so in-character, but England's (well-hidden) insecurity and (obvious) pessimism and volatility were spot on. And so were America's foolishness and thoughtlessness, as well as his urge to be the hero; heh, and like in real life, that urge was both a good thing and a bad thing here. Good thing in the short term, but in the long run? ... Oh, America, honey. :'D
I especially liked this: "Fuck." England thought as he hit the ground. "I've turned it into a game." P-poor England; I can practically hear him facepalming.
Ah, America's thoughts while he was panicking were kind of hilarious for some reason. Realistic, but still hilarious. ... I may be a horrible person. OTL And England's reaction once he got his breath back was perfect. Trust England to not only NOT choose between "fight or flight" but to even curse America out and get all depressed and sulk/brood, too. :'D
Suddenly American "helpfulness" was starting to look a lot more terrifying than the crossing of the Pacific. Fffffffffft, my nation is only trying to help, really! ... You'll probably only die a few more times? OTL ... You'll get better?
