Should've Gone to Vegas [10/?] anonymous March 30 2011, 07:49:56 UTC
His second option was telling it straight; he and Alfred F Jones got drunk at that social function and ended up having a one-night stand. That would most likely lead to Arthur becoming the man who took advantage of Alfred F Jones for fame. Not a very pleasant idea that either.

The third option was just staying silent and saying nothing. As long as Alfred F Jones’ publicist didn’t try to paint Arthur out as the bad guy, Arthur would stay silent. Of course, if both sides kept mum about the whole thing, odds were that conspiracy theories would start popping up. “Alfred F Jones raped Arthur Kirkland, hence the limp, and is now either paying him or threatening him into silence” sounded as a quite possible, if disturbing, one. However, as it were, the third option was probably the one that would work out the best for Arthur. At least he hoped so.

He took a deep fortifying breath. The only thing he had to say to the reporters was “No comment,” and nothing else. He stood back up, dusted his backside off, and shook himself off. He needed to get to the store.

Once Arthur was finally driving to the store, he let out a sigh; wading through reporters while yelling “No comment!” over and over again had been more than a little tiring. He was just going to continue on as if everything was normal and pretend to be just another face in the crowd, like he’d always been.

That turned out to be easier said than done. As he walked through the store, looking for the items he’d written down on the grocery list, he could hear whispering voices and feel people’s gazes resting on him. He tried to ignore it and just continue on his way by the whispering of his name, he could clearly hear it, was starting to grate heavily on his nerves after ten minutes.

After about half an hour, Arthur felt about ready to cry. The feeling of being watched was heavy on his shoulders and he could clearly hear the whispers of the other shoppers. As he passed by the magazine rack, he stopped and stared in horror at his own face on several of the tabloids. Already?

The whole thing had been “brought to light” only yesterday evening, but the tabloids were already writing about it? He shook his head and moved towards the register. There were already a few people there, so he got in line without complaint, despite how much he just wanted to be back inside the comforting safety of his home.

When it was finally almost his turn, he started to load his items on the band from the basket he’d been carrying them in. It was first now he got a clear view of the cashier.

Being pretty much a regular at this particular store which was, truthfully, quite small, he had actually gotten to know her pretty well. Her name was Emma and she’d been working there for a few years now, not yet in her twenties and she was always friendly, he hoped that last part would still be true.

“G’day Mr. Kirkland! How’s the day been?” she asked him as she started scanning his items. Arthur let out a silent sigh of relief, either she hadn’t heard or she didn’t care.

“It started out nicely enough but it has been… stressful since I left my house, I’m afraid.” He had to stop himself from sighing again and instead smiled slightly towards her. She nodded her head in understanding.

“Heard the news. I’m guessing you’re under observation now, eh?” So she had heard after all. While he found it annoying that most likely every single person in the world had heard about it by now, at least she was acting normal.

“Yes, well, there was a swarm of reporters waiting for me as I tried to leave my house. Gave me quite the fright, I must admit.” He shook his head slightly and ignored the few gasps he heard behind him. Damn eavesdroppers.

“Sorry to hear that Mr. Kirkland, but I hope the rest of your day’ll be better,” Emma said as she totaled the amount and accepted the money Arthur handed over to her. He felt a small smile tug on his lips again.

“Thank you, Emma. I wish you a good day as well,” he said as a good bye before he bagged his groceries and left the store.

While he got into the car he sent a prayer to any potential deity that the reporters had removed themselves from his yard.

Alfred had listened to the plan Elizabeta and Kiku had come up with; a plan that would have the best possible outcome for both him and Arthur. It was a pretty good plan considering how Hollywood works, but it was also pretty batshit insane if Alfred had to be honest.

A pretend marriage with a guy he doesn't know? A guy who might have less acting talent than Alfred's brother. (Yeah, he and Matthew might be brothers, but all the acting talent went to Alfred, Matthew couldn't even lie convincingly). A pretend marriage with a guy Alfred might not even like? Really, they must've gone insane somewhere along the road and just forgotten to let him know.

The craziest part of the plan was probably the ring. Elizabeta and Kiku wanted Alfred to design the ring himself. They'd printed a bunch of pictures of Arthur they'd managed to find (some probably through facebook, Alfred was sure of it) and a bunch of information about jewellery and precious stones. They'd only made one thing clear, the ring had to have at least one diamond and they had to approve of the design.

Alfred shook his head and got to work while Kiku and Elizabeta checked the TV and online to see if any new information about Arthur had come up. They were nuts.

That's it for now, sorry that it took me so long. OTL
Thanks again for all your kind comments! ;w;/

haha, I love how Alfred describe the plan. <3

Also the mention of Matthew not being able to even lie was just too cute. I hope we get to see Matthew later on. I just love me some North America brotherly relationship as much as I ship them...

I don't understand why Alfred would need to design the ring but w/e, it's cute either way.

I can't wait to finally see Alfred and Arthur meet and interact!

I would've been terrified if I'd opened my door and found a swarm of piranhas reporters gunning me down with their questions @__@;;

Hopefully Arthur and Alfred will hit it off, I can't wait for them to see each other again! *___*
