From the bedroom, they heard the vague sounds of the door to Russia's apartment slamming and heavy footsteps through the halls. “I saw an actually half-decent car in your driveway, so I figured it must be Canada so...Where the fuck are you?”
Canada smiled warmly at Russia and walked across the room. Russia flailed after him. “In here Prus--mmph!”
Russia dragged the North American back to his laptop. “Nyet!” Russia hissed. “He cannot come in here!”
Canada managed to wrestle away. “Why?”
“Have you told America that you like Justin Bieber?”
“Ah.” Canada nodded slowly. “Good point.”
Russia stepped out of his room and waved. “Just wait there Kaliningrad, da?”
“It’s fucking Prussia! Commie bastard! If you’re going to make me speak French for no fucking reason, at least call me by my goddamn name.”
Russia turned to Canada with a sigh. “Oblasts are more trouble than they are worth.”
“So I got your damn vodka, and some much more awesome beer -- I don’t give a fuck if you think it sucks it’s the best thing known to man so shut up -- and some flour for your... Damn it Russia, do I have to go into your room or are you going to come out?”
Me plus you -- Imma tell you one time!
Russia visibly paled. Canada gave an awkward smile and opened the laptop. iTunes was still playing. With another shy grin, he paused Justin Bieber’s first hit single.
“Sorry, eh.”
“Was that...” Three taps in short succession before the squeal of a turning doorknob. “Bieb...er?”
The door swung open, revealing Russia’s bedroom to the wide, unsuspecting eyes of the former Kingdom of Prussia.
“Holy. Fucking. Scheisse.”
“Prussia --”
“Fuck, Russia,” Prussia mumbled, “You’re a...what the fuck do they call them -- a fucking Belieber. Goddamn. I mean...” He noticed the very large and very, very pink bedspread. “Shit, you’re a Bieber fan.”
“If you --”
“No, you wait until I’m finished,” Prussia snapped. “I am ten seconds away from calling Austria, and that damn aristocrat would have it all over the Western Hemisphere by dinnertime so you fucking let me finish.”
Russia muttered something under his breath. Canada drummed his fingers on his laptop awkwardly before trying a quiet, “Hi.”
Prussia was still enthralled by the stenciled Never Say Never across Russia’s wall. Nations obsessed in style; Russia’s room was nothing compared to France’s when Voltaire came around.
Again, Canada tried to signal the oblast. “Hi Prussia.”
“Mother of Old Fritz...” Prussia mumbled, finally noticing the ceiling plastered with magazine covers -- Rolling Stone, People Magazine, US Weekly, Vanity...
“Prussia, I’m right here behind you.”
Finally the man turned slowly, barely able to drag his attention from the magazines. As soon as he faced away, he brightened. “Canada! When did you get here?”
Canada glowered at the carpet. “I’ve been here the whole time --”
“Can you believe this?” Prussia gestured vaguely. “I never would’ve guessed. A Belieber, right here in Moscow. What would they call that in Russian? A...Bieberuyushchii? A Veruyushchieber...?”
“We use Bieberuyushchii,” Canada muttered.
“‘We?’” Prussia echoed incredulously. “You mean you’re part of this hormonal teen shitstorm too? Damn.”
Canada placed his laptop on the desk and stood. “Listen -- Justin has real talent! He’s kind and cool and really cares about his fans and his music, which is more than can be said for a lot of other artists!”
Prussia blinked. “Sorry?”
Canada’s zeal faltered. “Eh?”
Prussia shook his head. “No, just I couldn’t hear you. You were whispering or some shit.”
“N-nevermind.” Canada leaned against the desk and bowed his head, ready to be forgotten.
Prussia rounded on Russia. “I mean sure -- the kid has great hair and pretty eyes and a smile that glows like fucking Berlin at night but I don’t understand why you would like him.”
“He has good music?” Russia tried with a hopeful smile.
“That’s --” Prussia took a seemingly menacing step forward before sighing. “That’s...absolutely true.”

Russia grinned. “You are a Bieber fan too, da?”
“Well, yeah, I guess I am,” Prussia grimaced. “I mean, he does have good music, and he is really, really pretty. And he’s pretty much the best pop artist to come out of the Americas in a decade.”
Canada pushed off the desk and gripped Prussia’s shoulder with a smile. “Why didn’t you tell us?”
“Well, Russia...for obvious reasons. I mean, last time I said I liked Schubert...” Prussia glanced at the beaming giant. “And you...well, it’s so hard to figure out who likes Bieber and who doesn’t, unless they’re a bloodthirsty teenage girl. I think I let it slip that ‘One Time’ was okay around America -- ‘cause, y’know, he’s got all the freaky fans and shit, right? -- and he went all Spanish Inquisition on me.”
Canada nodded sympathetically. “The only way I could get him to leave me alone was to remind him that Miley Cyrus and Ke$ha are American.”
“The only Russian pop stars that anyone seems to know are t.a.T.u.,” Russia sighed. “I wish I could have someone like Justin.”
A beat of heavy silence passed before Canada smiled. “Well, we were going to listen to ‘One Time’, eh?” He opened his laptop and pushed up the volume.
