I actually was going for France there. Like, they've kissed, just not as allies. But it actually seems more poignant if they haven't been kissing at all (Norman Conquest: I see Normandy as an OC, since s/he has so much Viking in him/her: What do you think?) If I deanon for this, I'll change that line, I think.
I suppose we'll just have to wait and see about England, won't we? xD

Given this new info, when do you consider the current England, France, Spain, appeared?
I AM SO GLAD YOU ASKED ME THIS QUESTION. I'm super interested in this; I tend to think that a nation-tan develops when the people start to think of themselves as a nation. Thus, Palestine has a personification, even though it's not officially a country right now, but the EU doesn't, even though it's an official entity (although, I'm not the one in Europe, you tell me). So, my current thought is that France appears as a chibi around the time when Louis the Pious splits Charlemagne's kingdom into East, Middle, and West Francia (France being West Francia, of course)-- then he starts to resemble the France we know now during the Capetians (under the Carolingians, people were still thinking of the area as a single entity [Frankish Kingdom OC FTW!], or a whole bunch of smaller provinces, is my thought).
Spain, I haven't thought about yet; England is more complicated, since he goes from Britannia to the Heptarchy (not a single entity), and then straight into the Norman Conquest. I'm not sure when his people's national awareness really started coming to be (although I would like him to be around during the Norman Conquest-- maybe appearing as the smaller kingdoms like Kent and Northumbria start to disappear-- so that he and France can have You Bitch You Conquered Me angst later.
