It took only a hundred years to forget the incident, but three hundred years later it reared its ugly head once more. Arthur avoided the topic when it arose, but it was impossible not to hear of the demon below, that walked the earth and searched the forests. Angels that had seen it spoke of its terrible eyes, like sapphires, that could consume souls and destroy hope. They hated and feared the demon, but at the same time, they looked hesitantly towards Arthur. No one wanted to acknowledge that there may have been a connection between Arthur and the new demon, but it was unsettling how the demon seemed to resemble the tiny child-demon from long ago.

The angels didn't trust Arthur, but they were unwilling to risk one of their own. Arthur suddenly found himself joined by no less than five angels at a time, something that annoyed and angered him to no end. He had grown used to isolation, and the presence of a small group bothered him. He had snapped at them time and time again, warning them and reassuring them that there was no way the demon on the earth below was connected to him.

No one believed him.

They were right.

The war started once more, and angels left the clouds for the battlefield once more. But this time, many did not return. And those that did spoke of the new demon, and how he would take the angels and hold them, squeezing them until they stopped struggling, and then he would look at them.

He did no more than that. And when he was finished, he would toss them aside and leave them.

No angels dared approach those that had fallen. Few died; most woke later, to flee the earth and take solace in the clouds above. Their haven was safe; they didn't need to fear the monsters below.

The angels spent more time above the earth than in the fights below. Arthur's guard changed slightly, and he was no longer flanked on all sides wherever he walked. He neared the edge of the clouds once, simply curious, and he looked down on the earth below despite the protests of his fellow angels. He had always been rebellious, and he looked down to spite them.

The earth's surface was miles away, but Arthur could see. Blue eyes, tan skin, blond hair. They called out to him, and he narrowed his own green eyes, his brows furrowing. After a moment, he tore his eyes from those that called to him, and he stalked away. The angels behind him followed, and he tried not to think unpleasant thoughts, thoughts of anger towards those that seeked to protect him from an enemy that they weren't sure was there.
