Tea and Coffee [2/2] anonymous August 12 2010, 03:30:22 UTC
“Let me pay for this,” he insists, and she gives him a Look. It’s that independent and demanding glint in her eye that makes him put away his money - though he figures he’ll give her money to pay her back anyway, leave it in her pocket.

The bubble tea is handed over, and that has to be one of the strangest drinks Germany has ever seen, but he doesn’t comment as he’s given his coffee in a one of those to-go cups that are always too thin and burn his hand unless he uses a cardboard sleeve. He slips one such sleeve onto his cup, and then allows Taiwan to lead him over to a table near the back. She seats herself, and he sits across from her, that awkward air still around him as he sips carefully at the hot coffee. It burns his mouth, but he doesn’t allow himself to wince.

Taiwan is watching him, smiling around her straw as she sucks up the sweet tea, occasionally chewing on one of the tapioca pearls when it slides up her straw and into her mouth. “Want some?” she offers, holding it out to him.

Germany considers declining, but she looks so eager to share the treat with him; he caves, taking it from her and sipping at it for a moment. He gets one of the bits of tapioca, and he hands it back as he chews the little bead, but he decides it’s…not bad. “Sweet,” he informs her, before returning to drinking his coffee.

She nods, smiles as she goes back to drinking it. “I like it.”

“Italy would, too,” Germany decides with a nod. It’s the kind of drink Italy would adore.

“He does,” Taiwan corrects.

Germany tenses minutely. Of course Taiwan has shared bubble tea with Italy; of course he loves it.

“You don’t really like how much time I spend with Italy, do you?” she asks quietly, her voice soft, a bit sad as she sets down her half-empty tea.

“Nein,” he grumbles, and he stares intently at the lid of his coffee as he drinks, nearly cross-eyed.

“You love him?”

Germany chokes on his coffee.

Concerned, Taiwan leans over the table to pat his shoulder until he stops coughing.

“Love?” he repeats hoarsely, tilting his head to look into her eyes; they’re warm, reassuring, and the smile on her lips helps.

“Love.”

“But…he is Italy, and I am Germany,” he points out and his tone is hushed, so as not to draw eyes from the others sitting in the shop.

“So you have a lot of history together,” she insists, and she’s got that seriousness down - the gentle kind that Italy also has on the rare occasion that he can read a situation properly.

Germany doesn’t say anything, just looks away, but Taiwan places a soft hand on his jaw. The sound of his name in her soft voice makes him look back at her reluctantly.

And then she’s kissing him.

She’s kissing him with those sweet lips, those soft, perfect lips that have kissed Italy, and now they are kissing him. It’s chaste, lingering, and when she pulls away, his eyes are nearly shut, his breathing steady, slow. So…this was why Italy spent time with her; her presence was soothing, her touch tender, despite her past. She could be mean, she could be violent, she could beat him black and blue if he actually let her, but…she was sweet instead, her lips like sugar.

He reaches up, cupping the back of her head, feeling the curve of her skull beneath his fingers as he pulls her closer, sipping from those lips in brief, light kisses, drinking down the saccharine taste, because this must be why Italy goes to her. This must be why it is so pleasant for him. He releases her, finally, and they’re both a little out of breath; the others in the coffeeshop are staring at them, and Taiwan gives them a sheepish smile, whereas Germany just returns to his coffee, his face flushed darkly.

Taiwan settles back in her seat, and resumes sipping at her tea, until she’s sucking at air with her straw, and then she finally throws the cup away, as Germany does the same.

“Maybe we should go find Italy,” Taiwan suggests as they leave the coffeeshop.

“I…if you like,” Germany agrees, still feeling like he’s in a daze as he finds his fingers laced with hers.

But…what a lovely daze it is.

Actually, Taiwan needs a lot of love, especially on this kink meme...why not I redirect you to the Taiwan index? ;)

Ahhh, I love that index. I've found myself spending so much time on it lately. (Mostly because it's one of the only indexes for female characters, and the other canon!het pairing index is Hungary/Prussia...which I also like to write, but I wish there'd be a het index in general. u.u Would make things so much easier, but it'd probably end up being huge. XD)

And thank you very much! I'm so glad you've enjoyed it!

I feel like this should just continue until Taiwan has everyone under her spell and it's some really weird Japanese dating sims game reverse harem type of situation.

I'm a wee bit tired.

Anyway, reaallly cute and just I'm GUSHING :)

I love your Taiwan, and since you're the same writer, your cute giggly Italy. And now I love your Germany too. You write fluff without making it too sweet, there's always a bit of seriousness somewhat underneath, I like it very much.

Aw, thanks so much! I enjoy writing the three of these characters, surprisingly; and for some strange reason, they seem to work in interchangeable ways.
