The Battle (for) Britain [5c/6] anonymous July 2 2010, 02:21:40 UTC
When England finally awoke, it was early in the morning, the sun still dormant and the crickets purring in place of the birds’ songs.

England woke slowly, his head aching dully behind his eyes, and just breathed in the cool, clean night air wafting in through his window. He registered a weight over him, and when he rolled sideways he collided softly with America’s chest, and he couldn’t help the smile that spread over his face as he snuggled into that warm chest that he had so missed.

America snuffled awake when England shifted, and his voice was groggy and rough with sleep. “Baby,” he croaked, his arm tightening around England’s form. “You’re awake.”

England hummed, content for the moment to be held by America and feel his warmth surrounding him. “Did I pass out?”

“Uh-huh,” America said, and held him a bit tighter. “By the way,” he added, and reached over England to the bedside table, where he picked up a little package of what England suspected to be airplane pretzels. “Eat these.”

England rolled his eyes, but took them anyway, pulling open the package and nibbling on one. His stomach didn’t protest.

“I suspect,” England said, “that you settled things with my brothers somewhat, since you’re here.” A pause. “Or you beat them all up.”

America chuckled a bit. “No, we’re cool now, I think.”

England smiled, patting America’s chest, resting his forehead over America’s heart. “I’m proud of you,” he murmured. “Thank you. For standing up to them.”

“Anything for you, sweetheart,” America said, pulling him closer and pressing kisses to his hair.

England sighed contentedly, savoring this feeling of America around him, that warmth and scent, the scent of old leather and pine trees and warm meadows, that calmed him as it surrounded him. America sighed lightly, his arm going limp over England’s waist.

“Oh,” England said, looking up at America. “How are your bruises-”

America was quiet, his eyes closed, snores whuffling softly in the back of his throat, his face even and peaceful in sleep.

“…feeling,” England finished lamely, reaching up to touch where he knew America’s face was splattered with black and blue. It wasn’t swollen any more, and that was enough to set England’s mind at ease.

With a fond smile, England leaned up and pressed a feather-light kiss to the crest of America’s cheekbone. America sighed lightly, but did not shift, and England smiled, leaning down into the hollow of America’s shoulder, settling there comfortably.

“Love you, darling,” he mumbled softly into the quiet hum of the night.

Once again, it seems my production rate is subjected to long droughts, followed by intense spurts of productiveness. But seeing as there is only one chapter left, I'm hoping things will fly. A bit more, anyway.

Welsh translation: "Efallai Amerig, Yr moddion bydew" = "Maybe America means well." (correct me if you like, Welsh is an impossible language for me.)

Thank you all, once again, for sticking with me through this. I appreciate all of your comments and praise. Especially you, OP!anon. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to fill your request. I hope it's lived up to your image!

YAY UPDATE! England's siblings are just...made of so many levels of awesome and win! I can't even begin to describe <3 I will definitely be looking forward to reading the last part of this fic. (It makes me sad to think that the fic is coming to an end D:)

Oh, and if you make any updates, please post a note about it at the fill list page:
http://hetalia-kink.livejournal.com/7233.html?view=46243137#t46243137

Readers tend to keep track of of the fill list page to determine which fics have been updated or not. I've already made a post for you for these two chapters so no worries about those. In the future, please make a post there so that we won't miss any of your lovely updates.

This is a wonderful fill, anon. I love the way you characterize everyone and America's steadfastness and how you ended it. <3

YOU UPDATED!!! I don't know why I didn't see this sooner. I just adore the way you've characterised everyone. It makes me sad that they don't actually exist in canon (the UK siblings that is) but I love what you've done with them <3 The way they're all overprotective of England. I absolutely loved that little fluffy scene Wales witness of America and England. That was just precious. It makes me sad that this fill has almost ended ;_;

OP, reporting for duty!! anonymous July 9 2010, 05:37:37 UTC
Anon, I seriously love you! This is such a sweet, absolutely awesome story, I almost can't believe it!

First of all, I love your portrayal of the UK Brothers, very concerned about Arthur, but only showing it in their own kinda rough way (N. Ireland totally ROCKS!). I also adored Wales and his consideration to Alfred after witnessing how gentle he can be with his brother.

Your Alfred was also great, despite all the things he had to go through in the story, he never once tried to hit back or disrespect Arthur's brothers, instead he always tried to talk things through and be diplomatic. He was a real gentleman if I've ever seen one (Arthur, you lucky bastard).

Anon, don't worry about this living up to my image, I can assure you it's even more than I expected. The only thing I regret is that this story is already almost finished, I would've loved reading more of it. Thank you so much, for filling this in such an amazing way.

Lastly, don't apologize for being late, I hadn't been able to even glance at the kink meme for some tiem due to my school finals (the horror!!) and work, so I should be the one apologizing for not seeing this sooner. Once again, you did an excellent job and I'm really happy with this. Congratulations!
